Electronic Arts Making Tiger Woods Statement Tomorrow -- Will They Keep Him?

Electronic Arts has told GameSpot they'll make an announcement tomorrow that's expected to confirm whether they will be one of the few companies to continue sponsoring disgraced golf athlete Tiger Woods. USA Today is speculating that EA will continue to brand its golf games with Tiger Woods.

This is very important. Why?

I have a vested interest in the outcome. No, I'm not an EA shareholder, but Stephen Johnson and I made a bet about Tiger Woods. Even though the guy has been publicly shamed day in and day out for the past few months (and rightfully so, it seems), I predicted EA would continue to stand by him, even if they start downplaying his involvement in the video game. Far fewer people would purchase a game without Tiger Woods on the cover, I've argued. Stephen, obviously, doesn't agree with me.

If EA decides to drop Tiger Woods, I have to complete the Mickey Rourke-starring Rogue Warrior from start to finish. A complete playthrough of Rogue Warrior is on the line, people.

As you can imagine, I'll be be paying very close attention to the EA Sports blog tomorrow.

Hey EA, I play a pretty mean game of putt-putt if your looking for another legend. I can't cheat either, because I don't even have a girlfriend.

Tiger had this coming, his stock is shrinking day-by-day and his reputation is taking a hit so it really don't matter, he was an inspiration to the whole world but it pretty slashed at a drastic rate.

If I had to predict or guess, they'll probably stick with him, temporarily. They'll probably see the feedback and calls about how they are handling the situation and make a decision thereafter. But I think he'll stay with them, I think so. That's my opinion.

All I wanna know who in the world cheats on a Greek woman? Tiger was arguably the first who introduced the world the finest thing since Halle Berry was in Swordfish. But he messed up, look at what happens when you get horny.

It isn't because he just cheated on his pregnant wife (who so hot, some countries would go to war just to make her queen), and it isn't because he AN affair.
    The issues with Tiger are:
    1) He's an a-hole who worships himself,
    2) had multiple mistresses,
    3) ran up a $60K tab to bang some mingy skank hookers... kind of an issue when you think about STDs and what he would be bringing back to his wife and kids. Tiger can't think past himself so what does he care?

BUT the EA and Tiger marriage will last through the ages. Why? Because if we learned anything in 2009 by EA refusing to make a patch for a buggy FIFA, laying off 1500 employees, and then buy Playfish for too much money is that they are all scumbags and deserve each other!

I would really be surprise if they dump him, but I would not be shocked if they decided to skip a year and not make a Tiger Woods 2011 game

I think that EA shouldn't drop Tiger Woods because hes been through alot lately he already lost nike and the golf magazine come have some sympathy for him.But if EA feel as though it may harm their production then they have to do what they have to do.

EA will drop him. They can find a new underdog in golf to be the face of EA. I know people cheat on their spouses, yet I don't see how EA could keep him. His name is forever tainted. It does not matter how many masters he wins, nothing can remove this situation from everyone's mind, when he is brought up.

Relax Patrick you won this one. Come on it's about money and EA won't drop Tiger because of the big $$$. It won't happen today and it won'thappen tomorrow. And most of all, no one really cares.

So he cheated on his wift. Not to be sexist, but big deal. It happens all the time. Just let this come and go. It shouldn't have gotten to the news in the first place

Maybe I've been on the Internet for too long, but all of a sudden there are hundreds of YouTube videos just waiting to be schemed up for the sole purpose of poking fun of the fact that Tiger Woods is having another video game with his name on it.

It's tough to call with these multi-million dollar companies. You'd think they would hang on to the icons which rake in the dough but then you see a company drop a souring name like a bad habit. I guess it all depends on what sort of image EA wants to present with their golf games. I've honestly never understood the draw of golf games; I suppose they mainly appeal to hardcore golf and/or video game fans (although the thought of a gamer actually spending time outside is startling!). But I think those same hard core golf types would expect the same quality of game they've received from past Tiger Woods games no matter whose name or visage is on the cover. You could program the game with Carrot Top as a playable character instead of Tiger and it would still play the same way. But I suppose that brings up the issue of how much of a draw Tiger's name and face really is in the EA Sports world when compared to other athletes...

I think I'm rooting for EA to drop Tiger just so you have to play through Rogue Warrior. At least you'll get over the 20k achievement barrier!

What does Stephen have to do if EA keeps Tiger?
