Between the Army of TWO: The 40th Day console demo release on December 17th and the upcoming launch on January 12, we'd like to take this time to ask those of you who've played the demo for your analysis. Has EA Montreal made an improvement over the original? A step back?

You are the people, let us hear your voice.

the demo is good i enjoyed the new weapon custimisation and the new way to use melee is very good it was always annoying when i tried to melee a guy and wound up shooting in a random direction because the buttons were the same. its not perfect i like that the kept the cover system the same except to change directions u have to click the right analog stick and the aiming is way to sensitive i havent noticed much else. i like that u get to make decisions now it makes u feel like u r part of the army of two instead of if u play as Salem ur just in it for the money and have no mercy and as Rios u r the good guy. i like they made the sprint button but i wish u could turn like on gears of war instead of running in a straight line only. overall i think its gonna be a pretty good game the plot seems good i just hope it doesnt turn out like the end of the last one where unless u had internet acces u got no final battle.

Wow. being a casual gamer I really enjoy AoT. I am one of the few gamers out there who get sick (dizzy) playing a lot of shooters (Halos, COD, and even S.W. Snowboarding). I played the Demo, and enjoyed the new controls. I realize that the graphics are being tweaked, and that the demo was more of a server/online check than anything. The only thing that was hard to get used to was the camera. That being said, I have pre=paid for it.
That being said, I did upgrade my weapon a few times, and did notice significant changes in weapon behavior. having actually fired weapons in the military and been a Small Arms Instructor, I was pleased to see that the changes the addons made.
As far as moral choices, its always a nice idea, and I think this was an abridged version of it. I really dont think they would kill off this guy like that, especially trying to prove the ramifications of making the choice at all. It would have been funny to see a sort of rock paper scissors game to see who does the killing shot.
In the end, its kind of like a movie trailer, show enough to whett the audience, but leave enough that the first level doesn't feel like you've been there and done that.

The Demo at least was pretty good. Yeah the graphics did change from being realistic to more like crackdown's graphics but, that really doesn't change it. If your a fan of the series then its probably a must play but, if your not then your wasting your time because the biggest change is ability to change your armor up and more options to change your guns up more. I like the demo but, hopefully they polish the game more because the demo did have some minor problems and the ability to choose the fate of others is pretty badass.

The original army of two graphics looks way better than the 40th day s graphics which is odd. The aiming is screwed up so it s easier to kill enemies with your pistol than other weapons. The sprint and the roll ability feel more tacked on than anything definitely trying to emulate gears of war and its cover system which wouldn t be a bad thing if they got it right. I liked the first army of two it had its problems so does this one but its fun I think I ll wait till its 29.99 though just cant justify 60 bucks on this game didn t pay it for the original either.

the cover was kinda gay, i like it being mapped to a button better than having to walk up to it, and there is no peak around cover cause of it, then the camera control with the split screen is gay, having to constantly flip it. Besides that and the graphics at some points i liked the demo and the additions. just fix these problems before launch and were good. i love the first one and this one has the potential to be better.

I was hoping this would be a good game because I like to do 2 person co-op with my nephew. But the demo was really bad. The controls are clunky, and I am not talking about just the shooting. The cover system is touchy and awkward. Why does the HUD have such short battery life? The worst thing is the sound. Volumes are messed up so it is hard to hear what in-game characters are saying (plus I think there was no subtitle option). We were using headphones and the echo was ridiculous. Menus are messed up in that there is no (go back to previous) option in obvious places. The whole thing just lacks polish. Work on it for another year and then show us what you got.

At some points the game will stop and ask you (and partner) to make a decision such as to kill someone or let them live. The first one of you to make a choice is the one the game uses. My nephew had the suggestion to take both decisions and compare them. If they are same, do it, but if different do something more creative to decide. (eg. maybe a mini-game between the partners). Seems like an obvious thing to do if you think about it. They could do things like that to raise the game up and make it unique. Instead, we get same-old, awkward, and unpolished. No thanks.

Back when the original Army of Two was being previewed I was so hyped. The ability to pick up objects and use them as shields, drag your partner to safety, things that other shooters just hadn't done yet. Then the game came out and it was good... not great... The online was strictly 2 vs. 2 which really killed the online experience. Playing with one of your best friends is fun, but it's way more fun to play with ALL your friends in the same game. I bought Army of Two and sold it back to Gamestop after beating it.

Ever since then my friend has used me convincing him to buy Army of Two as an example of when I told him to buy a great game that turned out average at best and only worth a rental. He now refuses to listen to me when I recommend games like Uncharted...

I was never going to buy the sequel unless the demo blew me away and it did the exact opposite. Like others have said the controls are AWFUL. I played the demo at least 10 times trying to get through it and never ended up beating it due to my partner leaving and the game ending or getting so fed up with not being able to talk to the moron I was playing with that I had to leave myself.

The original was a good game, but now this franchise is garbage with the industry leaders like Gears of War and Uncharted stepping up their sequels and blowing away the competition.

I played it, and then played the original to compare. The first Army of Two's control scheme felt like you had to fumble around to much to switch this and that. The sequel definitely improves. The "Gears of War" running would have worked- if not for the angle that the camera is at. It's hard to see your character more in this game than in the original.

The mask technology with all the sort of infrared and tagging your enemies is probably the coolest feature of the game. Kinda like Batman's detective vision. I also like having moral choices- although the choice you get in the demo sucks, because they both lead to the same end. Only one choice makes you feel better about yourself.

The first one I got when it came out and was very disappointed. Totally generic. I'm not even interested in the new demo the original was so bland.
