MAG, the "Massive Action Game" for the PlayStation 3, has "gone gold," and drops on January 26 in North America and Asia, January 28 in Japan, and January 29 in Korea. But that's not the best news. The best news is an open beta will be available tomorrow. According to Zipper Interactive, the game's makers, everyone, in every territory, will be able to take part in the MAG open beta, but North Americans get to play starting tomorrow.
Here's what to do:
- If you're in North America, wait until Tomorrow, December 22.
- Log on to the PlayStation Store (tomorrow) and download the MAG Beta file like you would any other freely-available PSN video or demo (298 MB).
- Launch the MAG Beta program from your XMB to download a special patch that will restart MAG once the update has been received (another 38 MB)
- After the reboot, the beta will reconnect and download the actual game data so that you can play (1.8 GB – 2.3 GB depending on your region)
That's all there is to it. Believe me, it's worth it: The game's massive action involves 256 players engaged in a massive battle. Do sign up, and I promise I'll shoot you (I mean that in the nicest way possible.)

yeah this $gb download made me wait 2 weeks before i could even play it... then they have the gaul to let me create a charecter and as soon as i get to the weapons screen exactly 10 seconds after the server loses conn. i retried to deploy about 15 to 20 times with no success. sooooooooooooo rediculous. you couldnt pay me to give this game a fourth chance to F me over. MAG sucks and i havent even gotten to play it. good job on fixing absolutly nothing, making me wait 2 weeks, promising servers would be up the 4th and bombing on that too. epic fail= erase from hardrive n refund my preorder. thanks for letting me vent, so pissed

Can't believe I missed this. I can't believe it's being released next month! Where is all the hype? I never was too excited about this game due to being worried about the whole 256 players on one map at one time. I'll give it a shot though.

I tryed to find the Beta, and theres nothing on PSN and it is the 22nd of Dec.. so whats up????

yeah tha servers dont go live till jan 4th.Y does everyone keep saying they cant find it?Y does it matter if you cant find it, when you cant even play it till 1/4/10. As far as im concerned they have from now till the 4th to fix whatever bug there is,and that gives me about 2 weaks b4 i have to worry about not being able to find the beta download :) im just saying they have plenty of time to fix it, and with or with out the download, we all have plenty of time b4 we can play it anyway.....

I know this will piss people off but I think the beta doesn't actually play untill Jan 4 here is an exerpt from psn blogComplete the steps above and you ll be ready to rock n roll and shoot things and blow stuff up until the beta ends on January 10 at 11:59 pm Pacific Time. Keep in mind, though, that you won t actually be able to play the MAG beta directly until the servers go live at 5 am Pacific on January 4. But hey, look at the bright side: this is the last time you ll ever have to download a MAG file this big (since the data will already be on the retail disc when it ships next month), and you ll save a whole lot of extra shooting time by downloading what you need early on; thus allowing you to jump into the action immediately on the 4th. however we should still at least get to down load it on 12/22 but I stil can't find the beta . time is 10:31 pacific standard time.

I was part of the MAG private beta and I always had fun on it and now I get to continue to experience the massive action. (no pun intended)

Having been in the private beta... I thought I'd share my opinion of it here for those about to download. First, the gameplay is a little repetitive in terms of destroying bunkers, AA, etc.. but what I don't get is people who think that MW2 isn't? I don't know what game you play, but MW2 for me is Ground War and Team Deathmatch (Hardcore and Regular). What isn't repetitive about A). Killing 8 or so enemy players on maps that were easily learned within the first few hours B). Capturing points in Domination only to have your "team" lose the one you had just previously captured. (granted that is circumstantial, but had to vent somewhere lol). The thing that really drew me in with MAG (to no suprise) was the scale.. I don't know how many times I enjoyed rushing in with a single squad and destroying the AA to have the entire front be able to paradrop in behind us, or holding the lines at the vehicle park in acquisition. The weapons feel pretty good (not sure about after the version that introduced recoil.. I read some grumbling on the forums, but by that time my QORE beta was about to be over). Everything to my knowledge was pretty balanced save for SVER's maps were a little hard to assault if you didn't have a stellar team. The graphics were ok, nothing spectacular by any means, but did anyone really expect Killzone 2 or MW2 fidelity with 256 players? Gameplay was very fun for me personally, and I implore people to look past the small problems and to spend enough time with it to get a good feel for it. Overall, definitely worth downloading.

Looks cool but beised the amount of players nothing good. The animations slow, the characters look okay but thats it. No laga nd 256 players seem fun.

Does anyone know if this means midnight tonight or like 9 AM tomorrow??? And if it si Midnight, what timezone does Sony use for this kinda stuff?
