Quantic Dream has been signaling Heavy Rain would have a life beyond the disc it ships on, and the first details on Heavy Rain's downloadable content have been released. The first episode of the Heavy Rain Chronicles, described as standalone short stories starring the characters from Heavy Rain, will be available on day one to gamers who pre-order a copy of Heavy Rain.
Heavy Rain: Chronicle One -- The Taxidermist is based on a scene that was used to demo the game, but was not part of the central storyline. The scene hasn't disappeared completely, however, as it's now been spun into downloadable content. Gamers who don't pre-order Heavy Rain will have a chance to purchase "The Taxidermist" for $4.99 sometime after release. A date hasn't been set.
At least two additional episodes have been announced, but it sounds likely there will be more.

What the hell? Just checked out Amazon and it gives that crap about sending the code "10 days after your order ships." Shouldn't this be in the game case when it's released?

I think I will actually play the game first before I decide about DLC or not. Dont see what the big deal is though as long as its reseaonably long and complete game than DLC on day one is fine by me. If its a great game than DLC already will be a plus.

Hey it's fine if you pre-order the game, they are not taking you money you're still paying the 60dlls the only difference is the time, either you pre-order and pay the 60dlls the day it comes out or pay the 60 dlls and pay the 5dlls later, which doesn't matter cause we all know that if you don't want the game you get your money back!!

Okay this was the same thing people complained about in Borderlands....Borderlands was a complete game, a great complete game, and jakobs cove dlc was just if you wanted it...So there is no nickel and diming going on actually u can get it for $60 just pre-order the game plus if you dont want it dont buy it stop complaining

I'll admit, my anticipation for this game is already about as low as it gets, but already announcing DLC? DLC available at launch!?
The dark side of the DD age continues to show it's face wherever I look.

I'm going out to reserve it tonight (or at least try to). Just another reason for me to buy it.

BEFORE EVERYONE STARTS BASHING QUANTIC DREAM AND CONFUSES THEM WITH CAPCOM... Heavy Rain is complete. There is nothing left out and is on hold so you can pay to get the "full experience" like other games cough* RE5 mercenaries *end cough. The chronicles are just for people that want to experience more of quantic dream"s game style after they are done with heavy rain using the characters that are in the game. Think of the Heavy Rain Chronicles like spin offs. The plot in Heavy is complete, nothing left out. The episodes are just extras besides the pre order makes it free!... and i will now make my way to Gamecrazy to pre order my copy.

I really getting tired of people's sense of entitlement.
It's one thing when a game ends in a cliffhanger with DLC to finish the story, it's another when you have a game that gives you the entire story (which can have an untold amount of conclusions) with DLC that allows you play completely different stories. They've said from the very beginning that "The Taxidermist" was not part of the story they're telling in the game, so they're not "leaving anything out so they can charge for it".
You either buy it or you don't, but don't use the excuse that it's some huge conspiracy to get more money from you.

I like how this pre-order bonus isn't gamestop exclusive.

its not even out and they are talking about their dlc for this game, how bout you put it on the 60 dollar game and stop phishing for extra cash

Bull(Please refrain from the use of profanity in your comments.). If you know what the DLC is going to be before the game comes out and the DLC is already DONE, put it in the damn game. Stop nickle and diming us.

Oh man...they just made it even harder for me not to pre-order Heavy Rain. I had planned to wait and see how it reviewed before deciding whether to buy it or not, but free downloadable content continuing the story is quite an incentive. I don't know...if the game turns out good, I might just sacrifice the $5. So many sure things coming out in Q1 for me to pre-order (i.e., Bioshock 2, GOW III).
