Medal of Honor Debut Trailer »

Electronic Arts has confirmed that its modern-day Medal of Honor reboot will in fact be the first Mature-rated game in the franchise’s history.

Executive producer Greg Goodrich revealed the info in a recent Q&A posted on the game’s official site (via Cinemablend). Judging from the "100% in-game footage" included in the reveal trailer, it’s easy to see why the game will in fact be the most mature of the series.

Of course, this revelation is all the more interesting considering that just yesterday, EA Montreal producer Matt Turner was quoted as saying that the "No Russian" airport sequence in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 "pushed it too far," and that EA "wouldn’t have done it."

How EA Los Angeles will earn their Mature rating remains to be seen, but as Goodrich said in the Q&A, "We will always be grounded by our core tenets of authenticity and respect for the soldier." Guess we'll find out if the "authentically M-rated" approach works out for EA when the game is released in the fall of next year.

my hope for this game is that its plays like an upgraded Bad Company 2 with the story that Modern Warfare 2 should have had. ie. one based in modern warfare and the threats and challenges faced now as opposed to some over the top unbeleiveable hollywood script with little footing in, you know, modern warfare.

The NO RUSSIAN level on MW2 doesnt even show women n children, but jus a bunch of dudes running around the airport.. still, that scene is just part of the game, and the creator s of MW pushed their limits to Try and show fantasy REALISM in their videogame story...

Yes now I want to see blood guts and limbs falling off. I want to see snipe shots that rip off an enemy face. It should only take one FPS to do it then the others will follow suit. Also if no russian had men , women, animals, and children getting shot as well then it would have been realistic and over the top.

i respect the guys opinion, but from my stand point, the no russian mission was somewhat a must for the story. at first the mission seems pointless except as a "murder simulator", once you beat the game the "ah haaa!" the No Russian level is basically foreshadowing in a brutal way but in a mature and well done manner. I give IW props for pushing that envelope to seriousness of authenticicty of the real world!

If game developers cant be willing to go to that level of seriousness, or cant do it in a mature way, then they shouldnt be making M-rated games that have to do with real world situations, .(now obviously im not saying every game developer has to have a level of mass murder of innocent civs. but they must be willing to go that far, inorder capture the realism, and to get the story and theme spot on)

EA is raising all their games ratings to M recently. Battlefield Bad Company was rated T, but DICE revealed that it was going to be Rated M. Now Medal of Honor has taken the leap to becoming Rated M. It looks as though EA is raising most of their games to becoming Rated M.

i'm so glad that medal of honer is going to be m-rated because it is a war game and when you shoot someone they bleed and war games that are teen just lack authenticity. I think that the game looks amazing from the trailer I just hope that it dosent ripoff modern warefare.
