Three things;
1. I've played both Uncharted 2 and Call of Duty Modern Wafare 2 and in MY opinion MW2 was the clear winner of game of the year. It had a solid story with many exciting twists that kept me on the edge of my seat. It also will be dominating PSN and X-Box Live for al least 2 years.( thats when IW makes there next CoD game for all of you who don't know, hopefully theres a 3 somewhere on that title :) )
2. Assassin's Creed 2 was robbed of all the rewards it deserved. Three that I feel strongly about are best new character, best writing, and best sound track. Ezio was an amazing character with a very distinct personallaity, I really felt his emotions as I was playing. The story was phenomanal, light years ahead of the previous AC and extremely engaging. and finally the soundtrack was in MY opinion the best at what it was designed to do which is play up the feelings the designers wanted you to feel at that moment in the game.
3. I still trust X-Play and all there decsisions, but I can't wait for G4oria when the eoples voices will be heard.

Shouldn't best original game go to something that's not a first person shooter? Borderlands does nothing that I know of games like System Shock II didn't do better before it, with the exception of taking a fixed set of ingredients, randomizing them, and making a bunch of weapons that have a few of them. Is that enough to win for best in originality? It beat Shadow Complex and Flower because of that? Cell-shading isn't new, shooter-rpgs are not new, wasteland settings in the first person are especially not new. Whether or not Borderlands is fun should not factor into its status for best in originality at all.

I really wanna try Mario & Luigi now since it one best RPG i am currently playing Dragon Age... and if it beat that.... damn it must be good :)

I just played an hour or so of Uncharted 2 at my buddies house and it was SOLID! Made Me Wish I Had A PS3 Of My Own. All These Games on the short list were deserving of acknowledgment . It was a tough year for gaming with all these AAA titles pushed to the 1 quarter of 2010. There was a lack of AAA titles, however the ones that came out were really great. I don't really care about the majority of the awards, mainly because their weren't very many interesting games, except best rpg which I have to totally disagree with. Even if its a great game it doesn't even compare to the scope of Dragon Age, Mario's such an overplayed series and yet people cling to it because he is part of everyone's childhood. But people should see it for what it is, a stupid idea for a game.

I hate how people compare Uncharted 2 to Gears of War saying its a copy cat of Gears seriously WTF! Gears of War was not the first game to have a cover system and seriously Uncharted 2 is about treasure hunting, mystery and puzzle solving and climbing and Gears is about fighting of other Aliens and cover system but can you climb walls in Gears of War? No! does Uncharted 2 have Aliens? No! does Gears having puzzle solving? No! Uncharted 2 is completly different 360 Fanboys need to STFU the only thing they have in Common is that they are both Third Person Shooters

yeah, flower is actually really cool. If you haven't played, you should. I'm really happy for demon's souls. That game came out of nowhere and kicked the crap out of players and was still fun. It was a good year for games.

I love how people are jumping on the band wagon now. where were you when Drake's fortune was released? The 1st Uncharted was spectacular , and this one is even better. Much love to N/D for staying down and delivering one more classic!!

the mario/luigi pick is ponderous, to say the least. demon's souls is the best pure rpg since final fantasy xii and its multiplayer is a rare example of genuine, non-gimmicky innovation. ya'll dropped the ball on this one, x-play.

Ok how IN THE HELL did a Mario & Luigi DS game beat out Demon's Souls or Dragon Age: Origins for Best RPG??? Wow... just wow. The only plausible explanation that I can come up with for that one is that it was chosen deliberately to start a Best-Of flame war ala Fable II. Well congratulations guys, let the roasting begin!

i think everyone is getting to caught up on the "winners" i'm pretty sure adam said himself in either feedback or the soapbox that if given the choice he wouldn't advance past the "shortlisted" games, so i'm gonna make it my goal to play every game that was shortlisted.

I am also glad Uncharted 2 won, Sessler is right it has the best campaign I have ever played, the graphics are the best in the business (you cant even tell whats a cutscene or actual gameplay), the motion capture is flawless, and the story is great. Good job Naughty Dog, your 2 for 2 in the big GoTY votings (VGA).
I am also glad Flower got 3 nomination and one win! That is superb for just a PSN game and it does deserve it.

Never played Flower, but damn, it must have a good soundtrack to beat Assassin's Creed II. AC2 was damn good, but unfortunately while it's 95% awesome across all categories each category had someone who pulled off 100% and together they robbed AC2 of all awards.... :(
Grats to Uncharted 2. Definitely deserves it. Glad they weren't stupid enough to pick MW2.

really?! i mean uncharted 2 isn't bad, but it's pretty much tomb raider with slightly improved controls. i wasn't impressed.
