Warner Bros. is moving front and center with the sequel to this year's surprise hit, Batman: Arkham Asylum, with former publisher Eidos Interactive (now owned by Square Enix) being dropped to the wayside. Eidos was purchased by the Final Fantasy publisher earlier this year.
Rocksteady Games, the studio that developed the original, is still working on the sequel.
Warner Bros. confirmed neither Square Enix nor Eidos is involved with the second installment.
"Eidos is not involved," a Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment spokesperson told me.
The contract between Warner Bros. and Eidos must have only been for a single product and after the resounding critical and commercial response to Batman: Arkham Asylum, Warner Bros. must have felt confident enough to strike out on their own for the follow-up. It also means more money for themselves.

As long as Rocksteady can get the support that they need to do it right, who cares who publishes it.

As long as Rocksteady is making the game, Eidos and Square Enix can go screw themselves for all I care!

Looks like the joker has a new place to play with!!!! Lets hope some other characters come up like Robin or Nightwing i think thats his name

I think this one is in the city....The offical website for arkham asylum 2 is www.arkhamhasmoved.com, "ARKHAM HAS MOVED".... That has to mean into the city or something. I'm expecting very good thinks from this one.

No Man's Land, No Man's Land, NO MAN'S LAND!

This will definitely be a nominee for 2010 game of the year.

They should try having a different Big Bad for the next game. Batman's been around for 70 years, so why not mine his rogues gallery for someone who isn't the Joker? Just a thought.

If there is one think to take away from that trailer, it's that Mark Hamil pwns at the maniacal laugh.
Great news about the sequel though, I really enjoyed the first game.

I am looking forward to this game. Two-Face could add a nice twist to the game. You flip a coin and depending on what side it lands, you get a different story-line.

I think that games based off DC, Marvel and any other comic books would be more successful if it wasn't a direct tie in to a major Hollywood "blockbuster" that's about to be released. That's what made Arkum so special, it wasn't hyping up and summer batman movie.. it was stand alone awesomeness.. I want more games based on existing comics, without any cheesey summer money making shinanigins

Go to arkhamhasmoved.com and you see that the Uncle Sam poster is clearly Two-Face.

You do realise that the trailer footage was all outside of arkham island, and further more, that the site domain is "arkham has moved" so maybe they are just keeping the moniker to make it so people realise that it's a sequel to the first (i.e. like MW2 keeping the COD title in front)

cool can't wait. I really think this is going to come out in 2010!

I'm not surprised. Warner Bros. has been positioning itself to try to make the DC Comics more successful with their restructuring. The primary goal is to get the DC based movies to be as successful (or at least as numerous) as Marvel, and I'd assume games are part of the plan. It's certainly not a big deal considering the developer is typically far more important than the publisher and publishers seem to be learning that supporting the developers and not trying to influence the project helps for a more successful and creative product.

I loved Arkham Asylum, and I was thrilled to hear that they were making a sequel...but I didn't know the sequel would actually be a sort of 'Arkham Asylum 2,' I just thought it would be a follow Batman game...set somewhere else...as in NOT in Arkham.
At this point, I'm sort of like 'been there, done that.' I'm sure there are lots of other interesting places in Gotham for the setting of this game. Or they could adapt one of the comics.
I've always thought the "No Man's Land" story arc would make a great game. Playing as Batman through an earthquake-torn Gotham City does have it's appeal. If anyone could pull it off, I'm sure Rocksteady Studios could.

Agreed Halo is storytelling at it poorest

1. Don't ever compare Batman to Halo. Thanks.
2. As I stated in a previous thread, Uncle Same is a symbol for recruitment, not for Two-Face. While it is not a far gone conclusion that he will be involved somehow, simply assuming that he will be a main character from his mention at the end of the last game, as well as the misunderstood poster, is silly. To do so and not mention the other hints that are dropped is rather short sighted as well.
3. Don't ever compare Batman to Halo.
