It appears that when you and a friend jump into the co-op version of the Splinter Cell: Conviction universe, you will be embarking on a six-hour-ish long prologue set two months before Sam Fisher’s story.
Ubisoft co-op game designer Patrick Redding told Official Xbox Magazine UK that players will assume control of one of two operatives not named Sam Fisher, Daniel Sloane-Suarez or Mikhail Loskov, and that the story follows the duo as they investigate the theft of EMP’s that have ended up in the hands of the Russian mob.
"You are going into this really seedy, gritty underbelly where we can put the whole graphical horsepower of our engine and the Xbox 360 to work giving you the lurid texture of this place," said Redding.
As for the two non-Sam Fisher characters, Redding explained, "If Sam Fisher is our panther, then these two guys are like a couple of Velociraptors taking down the herd."
Ubisoft has confirmed this info, so feel free to officially debate Conviction's co-op mode with confidence. And expect to hear plenty more about the game in the coming weeks.
