The recent phenomenon of offering special game-related bonuses whenever someone preorders a game continues with Rockstar’s upcoming western title Red Dead Redemption. Only this time, instead of simply receiving some predetermined in-game item or, in this case, outfit, players will be able to choose which outfit they want to have access to in the game.
See, after you preorder the game, you pick which of the three available outfits you want, and then you’ll have to complete a certain number of in-game objectives to unlock said outfit. Each snazzy getup is said to alter how the inhabitants of the game world react to you. Usually, I’m against pre-order bonuses, because the items are generally worthless or of little interest to me. But I think Rockstar is on to something here by having the outfits influence the actual gameplay in some noticeable way.
Preorder-ers will be able to cast their votes for their outfit of choice starting Jan. 4.
