At any point while playing Borderlands have you thought to yourself, “You know, this Borderlands place isn’t nearly big enough to accommodate all of my open-world needs. I wish the game world were significantly larger and filled with much more post-apocalyptic role-playing shooting madness”?
Probably not, but the folks over at Superannuation (via Blue’s News) spotted a trademark extension application filed by Gearbox recently for a game entitled Borderworlds. Gearbox original filed for the trademark back in 2007, but clearly nothing came of it, unless of course Borderworlds was the original, less stylized incarnation of Borderlands that the developer scrapped once they saw the more cell shaded-ish version in action. Or it could be a sequel/prequel developed by unicorns and pixies, which is exactly what I’m going to think until I hear something official.
And while we’re on the subject of Borderlands, Gearbox announced via Twitter that it will be releasing DLC and an update for the PC version of the game soon, so stay tuned.

To out due Borderlands, Borderworlds needs:
Customizable characters- Appearance, clothing, hair style, skin color. Stuff to make characters more personal.
Abilities- bullet time (slow-mo), brainwash, side kick assist, x-ray or heat vision, stun, hologram, super jump etc.
Customizable gear- armor, shields.
No more random weapon drops! (After playing for so long, (IN MY CASE 3 PLAYTHROUGHS, INCLUDING DLC's) everything I found was crap and I was getting really bored with my guns)
Customizable weapons- scopes, mag capacity, elemental damage, max damage, fire rate, reload rate, recoil, sway, bullet spread, accuracy and color. (Naturally you cant have all these things in one gun but at least give us 4-5 options to apply to a gun and adjust them to our liking.)
Dual wield- two repeaters or sub-machine guns would be sick!
New weapons- crossbow, silenced repeaters, throwing weapons, traps, flame thrower, sonic blaster, lasers, homing rockets, freeze ray, axes, swords, clubs, sharp sticks etc.
New modes of transportation- motor cycles, jet packs, hover boards, or my favorite: riding on a badass skags back.
Original and new characters: like an alien, a ninja, maybe a claptrap with legs, or more female characters.
Better story: The Destroyer, 'nuff said.
Stealth- Every time I attacked someone, it alerted everyone in the area. Can't we have the option to be quite and efficient like ninjas as opposed to just going "Leroy Jenkins", guns blazing.
Online PVP Matches/gameplay- Borderworlds needs competition!!!!
I admit, this is a lot. But come on!!! This is 2011 and we could use an ultimate BADASS 1st person shooting game with ALL this stuff. Someone is bound to do it eventually. Why not do it with Borderworlds?

Hopefully they come out with borderworlds! i beat borderlands for the 3rd time the other day with my level 69 hunter and also i got to level 69 with my siren. The games fun but needs to be more. and there needs to be more character customization. Almost like Fallout or Oblivion. Cause in Borderlands all you could do is customize the color of your character. Also in the DLC pack The Underdome Moxxi calls you by the name of the character you choose. Like when you pick the soilder she calls you roland. (the name you start with) And with the hunter she calls you mordicai.

why does everyone think this is an mmo borderworlds could mean that it takes place on different planets. at the end of DLC 4 marcus mentions that he will take you to new worlds under authorization of hyperion before he gets knocked out by claptrap.

god you're stupid Radiak. if you pay attention, no one "won the vault" the only thing in the vault was The Destroyer and it wouldnt be "more appopriate" it would be your idea for what it could be. because you have no freaking clue what it is if it is anything. and Borderlands 2 would be a completely unoriginal name. i seriously hate people who make sequels that just have the original name and a number after it. its stupid as hell. nobody likes unoriginal ideas. and "Borderworlds" seems like a better title because there is basically nothing left to do on pandora. its what i've been thinking the whole time, IF they make a sequel it should be something about them getting picked up and sent to a different planet. and it should be able to be backwards compatible with borderlands so you can actually continue with your character in borderlands instead of starting all over at level 1. The name Borderworlds would fit that better.

I hope this "borderworlds" mysterious title comes to play. suppose every1 thinks its a sequel and it turns out to be completely unrelated, like a ea game working wit gearbox. i no its im probable, but it would be funny to see. plus, a more appropriate name would be borderlands: Vault heist, where the story is your a charecter that has to rob whoever won the vault in the first game. *try connecting your memory files* or at least borderlands 2. atleast borderlands is a actual word. look it up.

It's not post-apocolyptic but it does take visual cues from many post-apocolyptic staples, so relax and un-bunch your underwear. Gamers are soooo sensitive. Jeeeze.

Mmmmm. I'd like to see this \"Borderworlds\" as the MMO version someday. If it's half as fun as Borderlands was in MMO variety I'd be one happy geek.
