According to Sony's official European PlayStation Blog, PS3 owners will be getting their eager mitts on a mini morsel of Polyphony Digital’s highly anticipated and long, long awaited Gran Turismo 5 thanks to the upcoming GT Academy 2010 Time Trials track releasing on Dec. 17.
The track will be available on the PlayStation Store to anyone looking to take GT5 for a proper demo spin well before the game’s release next year. However, if you want to be admitted to the GT Academy, you’ll need to first qualify in the top 20 in your country and then survive a national tournament before becoming one of the 20 gamers chosen for this year’s academy. Last year’s academy winner actually became a real driver for the PlayStation Nissan race team, so these guys aren’t messing around.
For typical racing game fans though, the important thing to note here is that you’ll only have to wait two more weeks to get your first taste of Polyphony’s next installment in its acclaimed racing series. And that’s a good thing.
Anyone out there think they have what it takes to get into the GT Academy? Anyone going to try?
