Santa Claus

Loveable mascot of Yule-time, Santa Claus, will soon be appearing in PlayStation Home; Claus' longtime companions, elves, will be accompanying Saint Nick too. While elves are no strangers to video games -- they are featured in nearly 88% of  commercially available tiles -- Santa is a different story. The jolly man-in-red rarely appears in games, so this is cause for celebration -- if you're under, say, ten.

There will be holiday-themed mini-games to check out in Santa's "Winter Wonderland" space, as well as snow, presents, a visit to "Santa's Grotto"(!) and a feeling of non-denominational-winter-holiday warmth. It all starts on December 10th, so mark your Advent calendar. More details here.

I bring all this to your attention for two reasons: 1) I realized that today is the unofficial beginning of the Holiday Season, and that means the return of a beloved tradition: dumb arguments in our comment section about retailers' and marketers' decision to eschew the word "Christmas" in favor of "Holidays." So have at it. 2) Santa looks creepy in computer form, but, honestly, even at my advanced age, I'm still a Santa super-fan -- that guy gave me an NES!

I went and played with home and I think I'll delete it, I will say I now know where Microsoft got the idea to charge people for avatar clothing (oh well at least MS doesn't charge for furniture for a digital apartment)

It interesting to think back on how much different Home was a about a year ago when it first started. It is really starting to bloom and I can definitely tell in another year or 2 it will have finally evolved to the point most people had originally envisioned it as.

Did anybody go to thanksgiving event on Home? Because that was just absolutely ridiculous, there where turkey's running all around the central plaza, which you had to chase to unlock this turkey outfit. Also, this didn't have to do with thanksgiving, but their where fireworks going near some giant robot that next to listen@home station. It was definitely one of the most lively atmospheres I've seen in Home so far, and looking at it gives me hope that one day it will be like that everywhere within Home.

You gotta love when you see the occasional douche bag questioning why people would waste their time on any specific game when they themselves are probably typing their bullcrap in between breaks from wasting their own lives playing fake a** soldiers in games like MW2.

gamermoney sounds like a bot, but he's right.

ANYWAYS. Why doesn't sony use this opportunity for a sweepstakes of some sort. Sit on santa's lap and and a wish and you could win some....THING I don't know. Just not the candy cane he keeps in his lap if you know what I mean.

Home has come a long way from closed beta. Free items being won though home minigames, items being one through blu-ray or psn games, home exclusive video footage of unreleased titles, anime screenings, special limited items, universal game launching and so on and so on. I stillknow what goes on in home and am there 3rh a week if any...interest has dwindled down since it hit open beta. The community feel just feels lost

Do people still care about home? I logged in once when I got into the beta forever ago and never looked at it again.
