The boarding party retrieval is easy to cover since shields prevent beaming over, you have to send out shuttles with boarding parties, but since before a ship is destroyed, their shields would normally be down, you just beam them back. And the repairing would be a function of auxiilary category of energy distribution. But usually most repairs would occur outside of combat, and your energy distribution wouldn't be that important in that scenario, unless there where other targets inbound. But visually that looks really, really impressive.

Maybe the boarding parties are teleported back onto your own ship?? Just takin a stab at that. This game looks like it has some empty gaps that need to be filled, like the whole not going and repairing the ship yourself type of issue. However, I like that they made it so that you really have to choose your moves carefully, meaning that a move that you make could potentially be just what your enemy needed to finsih you off, or the other way around. You really have to look at both sides of the fight in a very short time. Seems a little more strategic than WoW, where someone can have top of the line gear and suck, but still somehow manage to find a healing buddy and beat the crap out of you.

I was just wondering about the boarding parties that they mentioned. I saw them send some shuttles to an enemy ship, but after they destroyed it I did not see the shuttles return. Are the boarding parties people you just send on suicide missions? Do you get them back? Do you have to hire new ones?

im thinking this is gonna be a major letdown..so far there isnt enough detailed things to do with your ship as far as a vast majority of weapons, colors, ships etc. i know this is based on star trek but there needs to be other things involved. gamers like customization, they need to step it up like in star wars when the player can board a ship and damage it from the inside with a crew. i think this is gonna be a generic version of that with a less detailed layout..we will see i guess

The more of this I see the more I want to facepalm.

I'm not even a hardcore trekkie, I like the shows and movies that's about it. Even *I* can see the glaring lore errors and general WTF moments cryptic is doing.
