Assassin's Creed II Outselling Original

Ubisoft has announced that its critically acclaimed sequel Assassin’s Creed II outsold its predecessor by 32 percent in its first week of sale, moving 1.6 million units since it was released on Nov. 17.

You might have forgotten this, but Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed made ridiculous amounts of the mean green when it was released back in 2007, and in fact, it’s still the fastest selling new game IP ever. Now we’ll have to see if Ezio will be able to maintain the momentum and end up passing the 8 million-plus sales mark set by Altair.

Anyone out there picked up ACII despite skipping the first game?

I finally got around to beating the first 2 days before 2 came out. I love 2 though. I think of the first game more as the game you must CRUSH to be prepared to play 2. if u don't play 1, you aren't a true gamer.

That's good to hear. I was worried it wouldn't sell that great after seeing a bunch of negative comments about the first one.

theres no reason for me to buy it while i do love the game. i rented it beat it and got 45 out of 50 achievements in 4 days so theres just no point unless they come out with dlc with new missions and alot more achievements

I purchased the first one, I love both games, particularly because of the amazing story.

I don't regret not purchasing the 1st one because I knew it was going to be overhyped. Borrowed it from a friend and hated doing the same mission over n over again. Loved idea and the design for the it, but I knew once ACII would come out, it would truly the true Assassin's Creed game that I've been waiting for.

Ok well I am guessing sales to the store but everyone I know said pass on this POS. Game was rushed and is full of game stopping bugs.

I've played the first one and I thought it was great, but I haven't bought the second Assassin's Creed yet but I did play it at a friends house and I do plan on getting sooner or later.

I played the first one at my cousins apartment. I did not have the money ( stupid collage) for it at the time. So i played most of the first game not on my xbox, and i didnt officially own a copy. But the new one... its amazing. The graphics arent as good as say uh crysis on a amazing computer, but they work well. The running and freejumping is fun and better than the original. I defeniatly would pick it up even if you havent bought the first one because it kinda tells you what happens and you pick it up without needing to know all the details.

Nope, I was one of the 8million who loved the first and picked up the 2nd and loving it but I also have MW2 , Gay Tony and I got a PS3 for BIRTHMESS lol and I have MGS4 and Uncharted 2 . I am swamped , man it feels good to be a gamer . But my point is that there wasn't this many good and affordable choices when the AC1 came out and with the PS3 now at only $300 there are many 2 year old Sony exclusives that might be half the price
