Police in Garden City, NJ apparently arrested a man this weekend for not sending a tweet.
It all started at The Roosevelt Mall on Long Island, where teen singing sensation Justin Bieber was apparently scheduled to appear. Over 3,000 fans jammed into the shopping center and began chanting and yelling and carrying on. It looked like this:
The cops apparently asked James Roppo, a senior vice president of Island Def Jam Records, to send a tweet letting the fans know that the singer wouldn't show. He apparently failed to tweet and was cited for“endangering the welfare of a minor and obstructing government administration."
Bieber, who got his start after being discovered on YouTube, did tell his fans to go home via twitter, but apparently it didn't work.
If this near riot and the recent box office success of Twilight: New Moon has taught us anything, it's taught us that teenage girls are terrifying when gathered in groups. I suggest we all stay in our homes and play video games so they don't bother us! Trust me, it'll work.
In a related story, I recently tweeted about a personal appearance I made at a local discount t-shirt store (5 shirts for $3!); I was greeted by a surly dock-worker and a smelly girl who cuts her own hair as opposed to thousands of screaming fans. There must be something wrong with my internet.

Where were the parents to control all these kids, thats the real problem here. Our society is pretty sad when parents allow such hysteria to take over their children and then allow them to take part in things like this.

Guys, it's Garden City... New York, in Long Island, not New Jersey. C'mooooon!

wow Im not sure whats more appropriate a *facepalm* or just a friendly lol....This is so hilarious to watch but also just makes me sad inside. Don't these people have something else to do, I think their schools should give them more work or something. This amount of blind worship of a singer is just sad.

HOLY #&@$!!!! I am 15 and I have to hear about this all the time. I try to show my friends some real music from my favorite bands (Nirvana, Beatles, Red Hot Chili Peppers) and they ask "who are they?" Yet some of them cry and feel sorry for Nick Jonas when he was diagnosed with diabetes.
Funny thing is, I have about 1,000 songs on my iPod, and they have a little under 200. I am starting to thoroughly believe that they like his face more than they like him.

I've always wondered. The website is called Twitter, sending a message is called tweeting. What the hell do you call the members; twits?

Seriously, what is with nearly 90% of teen girls going crazy over some guy they'll never meet, who sucks at singing/acting? New Moon got a 29/100 on RottenTomatoes. A 29!!! And yet every teen girl goes crazy over Edward, Jonas Brothers, etc. Even though they all suck.
And the even sadder thing is, they'll forget about him in a month, and move on to the next teen star, just like they always have.
Man, high school really sucks, as I have to hear about all this boy band and actor crap all the time.
What ever happened to good movies and bands getting recognition? Ya know, movies that actually tell a good story, and bands that have good music (mostly rock, metal, jazz, and blues).
The entertainment industry really, really sucks sometimes.

Now instead of just telling them he will not show up,they decide to tweet the information.....if this isn't a sign of the apocalypse than I don't know what is.

We all have our obsessions and things we get excited about, but self control and simple polite conduct are paramount. So many places in the world you can see people standing in line quietly and politely and here we've got 3000 young girls acting like they were raised by wild baboons. Very strange.

so many... stupid people D:
