In case you weren’t aware, Valve’s zombie-fest Left 4 Dead 2 went on sale on Tuesday. But what you may not know is that it wasn’t the only zombie game released this week. As PlayStation 3 users can tell you, Capcom’s classic Resident Evil 2 is now available for download from the PlayStation Store for just $5.99.
Anyone out there picked up the game yet? If so, how does it hold up? Anyone playing the game for the first time?

I'm in Australia, and i'm a Die-Hard RE fan. What I really want too know is, is this demo on the Australian PSN store? And if it's not, can I get it off the other nationality stores?

i bought it on thursday, and its the same way i remember it. AWESOME! resident evil 2 is my favorite resident evil of all time. i play 5 and it was ok. i really don't care for 4 and 5, cause they are more action games then survival horror. bring back resident evil 1-3. remake resident evil 2 for ps3. not wii.

I never actually played any of the RE games....aside from watching a friend play RE2-64 and playing the demo of RE5...
always been interested in the series however....sure enough I don't want to jump in at 4 and be totally lost....naturally I understand that they aren't necessarily strict sequels in that sense....but it's just a matter of principle...Prince of Persia two thrones for example....wouldn't have been anywhere near as satisfying if I hadn't played and beaten the first two games.....especially that awesome ending/beginning....
The wii shooters look like much fun...but again...not sure if that's how I want to leap into things....
having the originals on PSN...if there were any PSN cards here....would be indeed tempting...
though I can probably still go to the bargain bin at EB games and pick it up for a similar price....then again they still have plenty of really old games at 30 bucks....seriously? If I want to play golden sun 1 and 2 I have to pay nearly full price? BAH...humbug...

I still have the PS1 copy. I can play that on my PS3 later. If any wants to try the game really scary than play at 8:00pm-2:00am. Zombies are scarier at night,. I once play the game at midnight in the dark. It almost made me jump. Trust me it is very hard to scare me. I am the one making jokes at universal studios Halloween nights.

Resident evil at its peak, when it was dark, had a hell on earth environment, terrifying scenario, and wasn't an action shooter where you shoot people instead of zombies.

Ahh yes Playstation store put more and more games up, and people wont really care about backwards compatibility as much. Something they should still look into however, would be to promote some free games for example you buy RE 1 and get RE 2 free from the PS store. Just a thought. I forget how much PSOne games cost on the PSN

i remember playing it years ago on ps1. i had the release copy where you had a chance to win a part in the movie if u bough the game.

It was a great game when i played it on the N64,and i bet it
is still great nowadays. I still have it and my N64 and i believe the fastest time i got was about 45 minutes 20 seconds believe it or not i dont care if you dont believe me. The thing is it is a great game, The scenario's B for Claire Redfield was the scariest version of it but most of all i really loved the variety at the time of how many different weapons to kill with, the C Magnum(Custom Magnum)being my favorite, the voice acting wasnt entirely as bad as the original( let not even go there) but to todays standards they are horrible.The graphics have not aged well i can vividly remember the final boss( again lest not go there). But the whole point is killing the enemies, scary sound affects and the replayability

yeah, downloaded this afternoon. I haven't played it yet 'cause I have to get ready for work and I come out at 11pm. Oooooo, how appropiate to play at night....
