While not exactly a secret, the sequel to Kane & Lynch: Dead Men has now been officially announced. Eidos' gritty action game is called Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days and will be released for PS3, 360 and PC in 2010.

According to Eidos, Dog Days is "inspired by documentary filmmakers and the user-generated era," and has been designed to deliver "a fresh perspective to the words 'intensity' and 'realism' in video games."

"Gamers are always looking for something new and that is exactly what they are going to get with Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days," said Niels Jorgensen, general manager of IO Interactive, in a press release.

I liked the first game, but with qualifications. There's a point where "gritty" becomes "ridiculous" and Kane and Lynch crossed that line a few too many times, plus, the lack of online co-op was puzzling. I'm going to track down someone at Eidos to see if this game will feature online co-op, and I'll let you know when/if I hear back!

So, maybe the mechanics of the game were a pain in the butt sometimes, but nonetheless, I really enjoyed Kayne and Lynch. I'm stoked to hear that they're coming out with a sequel, and I'll definitely be getting it.

I hated on the first game, especially after what happened to a certain employee at Gamespot who was fired for writing a bad review for the first Kayne and Lynch. And I will not support the second one for this very reason. We can not let developers get away with getting reviewers who write bad reviews of their games fired.

I will be making myself very vocal on this until the game releases. I hope none of you on these forums will support the Publisher who created that fiasco.

on a related note from his post I would like to see a new Hitman. Blood money was pretty fun but I'd like to see a whole new game engine this time around. Time to revamp the series

@CMC my only guess is that at some point during your post you put an "S" in front of "Hitman" get it? the profanity filter at least used to tell you where it was unhappy. It sucks now

    The site was saying that "W h e r e b e H i t m a n 5 ?" has a profanity in it...what?

    Here is my whole post

Lets hope the developer can figure out how to get aiming to work on a console controller this time around. I suggest they look at EVERY OTHER GAME THAT HAS COME OUT SINCE HALO for examples of how to do this.

I love the Hitman series. I have played through all of them multiple times (normal, hard, expert). So as a big fan, I can say that the aiming in those games (on consoles) is pretty horrible. It works though because it isn't really about shooting, so it should be a bit more wonky (so you only use it as a last resort).

You can't put the same bad shooting mechanics in a "shooter" and get away with it.

Did K&L even sell well? I know it didn't review well...
