Nintendo Makes Good On Downloadable Demo Promise, Rolls Out WiiWare Demos

PlayStation Network doesn't require demos for downloadable games like Xbox Live Arcade does, but most games tend to have one, even if it arrives a week or two later. WiiWare, however, remains a complete gamble. It's often difficult to find coverage of most WiiWare games, potentially moving WiiWare games out of impulse-buying territory. I know that's happened to me before. Luckily, that might no longer be an issue, as Nintendo started rolling out WiiWare demos today.

Right now, there are only five WiiWare demos available for a handful of already released games. It's unclear whether demos are going to become part of Nintendo policy going forward, but the amount of interest gamers pay to this suite of demos will probably play a factor.

Here are the five games: Bit.Trip Beat, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles: My Life As A Dark Lord, NyxQuest: Kindred Spirits, World of Goo and Pokemon Rumble. Nintendo made some good choices, too, as those are all fantastic examples of quality, ignored WiiWare games. Get downloading!

Now maybe we can see an update that allows to save demos download from the Nintendo Channel to the DSi system memory?

    Or DSiWare demos?

I already downloaded the pokemon demo and it's fun. It has a nice adventure feel to it with just the right amount of pokemon collection that the series has always had. But it should be mentioned that they aren't the full game but are downloaded in the same way. There is no save, for the pokemon at least, and it seems that even without saving the game still knows if you've played or not.

Hopefully this will help increase sales for awesome games like World of Goo and Lost Winds... if Lost Winds ever gets a demo

    IT TOOK THEM LONG ENOUGH.

Seriously.....it's stuff like this that annoy me about the Wii. It took them this long to release DEMOS?!
