I’ve said it time and time again: you aren’t somebody until you’ve been awarded an honorary membership by the largest organization of plumbers in Spain, ASEFOSAM. Well, today, you can officially rank Mario (Super Mario Bros.) among those chosen few privileged enough to be recognized in just such a way. Well, finally!
According to Go Nintendo, the group bestowed everyone’s favorite Italian plumber with the coveted honor thanks to his contributions to the betterment of the image of plumbers around the world. One member of the prestigious organization wasn't quoted as saying, "It's been an uphill battle for the image of plumbers, for sure, thanks in large part to the use of our profession as an adult film trope for many, many years. But thanks to Mario, plumbers have finally been recognized as something more than the hyper-sexual and muscular figures we so often are."
Coincidentally, the second largest plumber organization in Spain awarded Luigi an honorary membership in their Lesser Respected Plumbers That Can Kind Of Be Helpful Sometimes Club. ‘Tis a fine day for plumbers everywhere!

The hell? Mario is not a plumber, he's an entrepreneur. Can't they see how much money he made selling those games and consoles?

In reference to that plumber's quote about their public image, there are many words that come to mind for a stereotypical plumber, but "hyper-sexual and muscular" are not among them.
