Microsoft has a gift for you... if you consider consumer products gifts, I guess. Anyway, it's an Xbox 360 Wireless N Networking Adapter that should be on sale now. It's only $99.99, so it's a bargain...
...wait, it's a hundred bucks? Can't you get a whole 360 for like $199 these days? What the --
Anyway, it uses the 802.11n wireless protocol which Microsoft swears allows "two times the range and a speed seven times faster" than the company's previous wireless adapter. You'll be able to "Easily stream all of your Xbox LIVE entertainment such as Games on Demand, HD movies and TV shows and music through Xbox LIVE or your media center PC" with this thing, and there are no wires.
But still, a hundred dollars? I could buy at least three cheeseburgers with that kind of money.

When I used to own the old adapter I always had problems with it. I don't see spending one hundred dollars again just to have similar problems.

I ran wire and installed ethernet wall sockets for about $9, unless you count the money I spent on the router & stuff, which I already had for reasons other than getting my xbox online.

Only 100 bucks???....HECK YEAH I'M GOING TO BE FIRST IN LINE!!!
msfrizzell
Maybe the old adapter will work with it too.
If not I'm going be mad.

Finally you can connect your 360 wirelessly, welcome to the present day.
Wifi is free with ps3 and works great, I've had mine running wirelessly since I got it, and never had a connection faliure due to my wifi.
Maybe MS will include this tech. in there next new console.
E3 2010 look for that.
Nobz
Wow, yet I can get a simple Wireless N USB device for my computer for half that much. No thank Microsoft, we all aren't made of money like you are.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! I get a $5 component that should of been included with the console right out of the box for $99.99!!!!!!Damn even Nintendo got that right with the Wii.Please Micro$oft fanboys enlighten me on how the HELL this is not ripping you off for something that should of been included with the console right from the get go.For the love of pete they could of at least charged you $25 instead of $99.99 for this stupid thing.

Someone mentioned that the PS3, WII, and IPhone all have 802.11G built in but they will all require a addon to go to N because the spec for N was not approved till a few months back. The price is way to much though but it is nice to be able to upgrade to N if you really want it all the devices with it built in will need to provide a add on as well to get N.

But gamers are like druggies. They pay millions ney billions a year on games. Its fact.

This is one thing Im surprised people don't complain more about when it comes to Microsoft (well really all manufacturers). Sony used to get bashed (Which they SHOULD of) for having tons of peripherals. like the multi-tap on the ps2. And Microsoft DVD add on for the original Xbox.
But considering the article. we will use Microsoft as an example: They seem to get off easy this gen for selling proprietary everything that they sell for not just an over the top price, but almost insulting prices. They seem to think gamers are addicted druggies who NEED to use there machine so bad they are willing to pay double the average price for a specially shaped HDD, or Wireless adapter that works better then the crappy one you bought when you got the system. For Shame Console Manufacturers.

I will say this, while I do agree that 100$ for a wireless adapter IS rather steep, the original is definitely a worthwhile purchase. I've had mine for about two years now, and it's proven it's salt in that time. The only problem I've had with mine is that the clip that keeps it attached to the box itself has broken (through normal connecting/disconnecting...I don't abuse my 'lectronics), leaving it dangling like so many nearly-severed limbs... Here's hoping I can still get the 80 or so dollar trade-in value for my old one!

Oh, and for the fun part that all the fanboys don't want to hear.... The Xbox 360 is now officialy the first that has the ability to fully use 802.11 n technology :P

Yes, many companies include wireless adapters. 802.11 g adapters but adapters nonetheless.
As Yourwarlord pointed out, there is a very large difference between 802.11 g and 802.11 n, this isnt exactly just a new paint job. I for one believe Microsoft's claims of how this piece compares to thier earlier adapter, since the science and standard info available to anyone backs that up. 802.11n is faster, more reliable and has a much broader range. I would rather it was around 50-60 bucks so as to make it comparable to it's PC equivilent, but this is a lot easier pill to swallow than thier 802.11 g adapters at the same price.

This is ridiculous.
So many tech items of today include wifi built in.
This should be a mandatory gift to 360 owners, not a $100 antenna.
Clearly, it won't be free. But I'd probably pay $25-$50 bucks for this. Not $100 by any means.
Waylain
Trust me
I will be getting this
The old one is the same price and yet this is WAY better.
The wireless mic is $60 and that is way overpriced in my opinion
