Gearbox Designer Calls Borderlands 2 "No Brainer" If "Everything Makes Sense"

Throwing Away A Gun That Lights Things On Fire In Borderlands Is Hard

No, Borderlands 2 hasn't been confirmed yet. The surprise success of Gearbox Software's first-person action RPG -- based on word-of-mouth, anyway, as official numbers aren't in until later this month -- prompted someone to finally ask the developer, "hey, what about Borderlands 2?" You can guess what an excited creative director might have said in response to VG247's question.

"Yes, I can probably confirm that there’s a chance of a Borderlands 2," laughed Mike Neumann. "I mean, with anything, especially a new IP, if people want more and you can make more, and everybody can make money and do good business there, it obviously makes really good sense to do that. Obviously nothing so far is planned. We’re working on DLC. We haven’t really had any talks about a sequel, other than water cooler talk like, 'Wouldn’t this be cool' kind of stuff."

None of that's surprising. Borderlands appears to be taking off better than most expected, prompting Gearbox's design team to start pondering the "what ifs?" about the future.

"If everything makes sense, Borderlands 2 seems like a no-brainer to me," said Neumann.

i have to say, i LOVE Borderlands. However, i have yet to finish the game, and the recent release of COD:MW2 will definitly mean I wont be finishing it for quite some time. Darn you game developers... releasing 2 AMAZING games within a month of each other

God, I hope so. It's been a long time since I've played a game for the sheer FUN of it, and this game just oozed fun. Just beat the story, and intend to immediately go back and play again, something I almost never do.

I hope they make a sequel. Obviously, there are improvements that can be made, but this game was a very good value for the money. My wife and I have already played split screen for at least 60 hours. That means about 120 hours of gaming fun, and we are STILL playing it.

I'm sold. It's always a great feeling when you're not sure if you're going to like a game, then you get it and it blows you away.

A sequel BETTER be in the works!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!! I JUST finished Borderlands not more than 3 hours ago and it was fantastic. I put about 50 hours into Single Player and about 75 over all. I loved every single semi cell shaded, gory, action packed, clap trap second of it. If they don't make a sequel it will be a massive blow to me (Giggidy).

Of course there are a few things that could have been tweaked. Like some of the missing water effects, and the non existent story, and the fact that I couldn't find a better Shotgun, Class Mod, or Shield for over 20 levels. However, all of the little problems combined equal a small puddle compared to the massive Ocean of pure joy Borderlands provided me with. It was the game I always wanted to play, and I can't imagine it being any more fun than it was.

Every single Gun in the game felt just right. The shooting felt amazing, all of the different weapons really did have their own feel. I could go on and on about how amazing this game was, but I will let the Gamers who haven't picked it up yet find out for themselves.

Seemingly fantastic, but only if they spend more time on it. Little things like rockets clipping through targets when I go for bodyshots, and water having NO reaction when you drive a car through it really take from overall experience. I still like the game, and it's fun online, but they really need to flesh out the details and make us care about the story going forward. Borderlands is a good first game that can be improved on.
