What You Need To Know

• We were more impressed with this Panasonic than the Olympus Micro Four-Thirds camera from a few months ago, due its small and sleek size.
• This GF1 weighs over half a pound and measures only 4.5" across.
• The lens is half the size of the Olympus with a built in flash.
• There's no optical zoom or viewfinder, but it's easier to carry around.
• It's also a better fit in your hand.
• The camera works like a regular point and shoot with a standard directional pad and shortcut buttons.
• It also features a normal mode dial, but you can also switch to continuous shooting or self-timer without going into the menu.
• The movie record button is convenient, too. Just press it and it starts recording.
• Autofocus is really quick and almost triple the speed of the Olympus.
• Overall, we enjoyed using the camera.
• The image quality is good: normal light shots had accurate colors and very little grain. Sometimes they would wash out and look too sharp, but this was rare.
• Low light shots also looked good: exposure seemed to be right on most of the time, and the flash did not overexpose.
• The video quality is only okay, and needed some image stabilization since things were blurry a lot of the time.

Price

• $900.00 is higher than normal for a DSLR, but the small size, image quality, interface and spectacular design make it worth the price.
