Can you guess what everyone on Feedback was talking about this week? Hint, hint: we're one week away from the highly anticipated launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. However you feel about Infinity Ward's latest entry in its shooter franchise, it's shaping up to be a monumental day for games. Chances are everyone could have talked about Modern Warfare 2 for an entire show, but as it turns out, there's a bajillion other games being released right now. So, we talked about those, too.

Feedback -- Potpourri Edition »

Here's what else Adam, Abbie, Sterling and I cover on this edition of Feedback:

  • That controversial Modern Warfare 2 viral video that showed up last weekend (and has since disappeared) sparks some heated discussion...and harsh words for Infinity Ward.
  • Even Nintendo's not sure what to do with the Wii these days. We look at where the Wii's come in the past few years and some up with some easy ways Nintendo can patch things up.
  • Game of the week? How about games of the week? DJ Hero, Tekken 6 and Grand Theft Auto IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony -- batter up!
  • As more casuals join the ranks of our fellow gamers and achievements encourage players to venture into harder difficulty settings, a reader probes us about difficulty settings in games.

Feedback: doing a poor job of hanging signs with scotch tape since mid-2009. Sing our ballad and subscribe:

(And yes, we are aware that Sterling's microphone is underperforming this week. Top men are on the case. Top. Men.)

The stories aren't being featured on the Fox newsez because IW is a right leaning developer. They are, and admirably so, very supportive of the troops but, not so admirably, guilty of glorifying warfare.

Hmm.. Looks to me like the gamer community is going to be bludgeoned over the head with the politically correct ball bat for as long as people can't handle what is being said about or to them.. In my life time I have been at the receiving end of a lot of really bad comments, nun of them about my sexual orientation buy then again there is not a lot of straight ppl bashing out there.. I have however been belittled because I am from the south, I am fat, I had for along time real problems with reading and such to the point of having to be put is side classes for the "stupid ppl" and so on and so forth.. Did I cry out in protest? No, I delta with it so that it would not be the only thing in my life.. People are at even the best of times prone to ignorance, but what is worse? Being ignorant or being the people who will not let these things go because you moral compass is apparently so much better than anyone else. I think it is better to just be stoic about the hole thing and just pity the ignorant because they don't try to make themselves better.. It definitely does not help to keep beating the horse or what ever. It was a bad choice to make the end the way they did, but so is the choice to give this "PSA" as much press coverage as it has gotten.. Good or bad free press is what it is..

It's just a word. I don't think that IW was being homophobic, it was just a joke. They saw it insulted people and they took it down. No harm, no foul. It really isn't a big deal.

Do you think nintendo's next console should use a regular controller or do you think they will use a controller somewhat similar to the WiiMote? and do you think nintendo lost Fans because of the motion controller? not to call myself lazy but sometimes i just want to sit with a controller and collect some heart containers.

I think that we have so many casual gamers in the U.S. for anyone to care about making higher difficulty levels, I mean we all know those BIG First Person Shooters franchises are supported by all the casual gamers out there,
(you can tell so when you start hearing people that do not have an idea of what zelda is talk about Modern Warfare 2)
and what bothers me the most is that all those people are actually the face of gamers (because those are usually the more socially active ones ~lol) and leaves us into a range of either
"Fight Against Grenade Spamming" screaming fools or the immature crazy kind.

Over all I think that the U.S. is not totally rdy to get some real Difficulty levels because the Casual Gamers will provably witching [g4 doesn't let me use "profanity"] about it, and there will go the gaming community down the toilet.

    ---
    "I have a Question!!"

~ Do you guys think that the hard core Gaming Community is big enough to actually make the game industry survive with out the Casual gamers?

    --note--

you should consider that if the difficulty became more realist it might attract a rly small amount of ppl but it would sure keep the hardcore in.

    @ ZeroXLegend

A game's popularity in one territory has no bearing on its popularity in another. If you genuinely didn't enjoy a game but it was hugely popular in Japan or Korea, would you try to convince yourself that it must be you that is the problem and not the game? Maybe the Tekken series is just losing traction in North America. Not every gamer feels the need to justify the games he/she likes by noting the amount of other people that like it...get over yourself.

Anyway, on the subject of difficulty levels and AI, I think it'll be a huge advancement when developers learn to make each AI enemy behave as if it actually values its life and isn't just another "anonymous henchman" that exists only to soak up a few rounds and die. The day I play a game in which my enemies refuse to advance in the face of constant gunfire, don't expose their head/body in the same place every few seconds, and actually try to flush me out or flank in the same way I flush them out or flank, well, that'll be a pretty big day for games.

Tekken 6 was a extreme letdown. Glad I didn't trade in my copy of SoulCalibur IV, for it!

It's kind of astounding to me how much GTA IV has aged in less than two years or even in the mere months between expansions. When GTA IV was released I was amazed at how much better it felt than the PS2 games to play, however with BoGT it was really beginning to feel clunky. I particularly felt that whenever the game tossed a mission built around firefights the game became terrible. It was quite infuriating when they decided to give the player firefight set-pieces but provided extremely little in the way of cover - in a combat system that had become extremely reliant on cover. The game was tremendous during the over-the-top action missions (eg. helping Yusuf steal a train carriage)

I'm confused , when did sexual orientation represent a hole people . And Its funny to me that Adam has such strong feeling about IW's commercial about using the word FGA when he told everyone who was talking crap about Halo3 to eat a Dcik because thats what they were realing wanting, by essence calling Halo3 FGAs on his Halo3 soap box and just to be clear I did and do agree with that statement that Halo3 haters are indeed FGAS

Thanks for the great feedback. I really loved the Nintendo discussion. You all talked about everything I've been complaining about and have been worried about for years.

The reader question about difficulty levels was good. I just recently bought Dragon Age(PS3) and decided to play my first playthrough on casual. I'm not the best at tactical rpgs and with work and school I kinda just want to escape into a fantasy land without having to worry about dying so much.
