Rumor Says Next World of Warcraft Races Revealed

Analysts, like gamers, are always interested in what's next. When Blizzard Entertainment president and co-founder Mike Morhaime outlined the plan for Blizzard in 2010 during Activision's quarterly financial results call today, he didn't mention the company's next MMO. Blizzard has publicly said it's working on an MMO not related to World of Warcraft, but has detailed little else.

Even when pressed by an analyst, Morhaime remained tight lipped on the next MMO.

"With respect to the product that we have in development," said Morahime, "which is an new massively multiplayer online game, we have not announced any details with respect to that game or the intellectual property associated with it other than to confirm that there is an unannounced MMO currently in development at Blizzard and that it is not a direct sequel to World of Warcraft."

Blizzard has reiterated several times this is not a replacement for World of Warcraft. Thoughts?

Who gives a flip? Only reason I'm even taking the time to comment on this story is cause I like G4 enough to take the time. Other sites it's pathetic that stories like this is the best thing they can find to put on their front page.

Wow is effin dead people even Blizzard knows that. Why ya think they officially announced that cataclysm is gonna be the last expansion for it? It's because people have been ditching wow like a sinking ship for the last couple years. Only ones still play that game are anti-social degenerate losers that will never have any real friends because they're too full of prejudice and hate for everything and everyone including themselves. Between the disgusting player base that's still there (and yeah let's hope Blizzard keeps em all penned up there for a couple more years before they pull the plug on em so they don't go ruin other mmo's) and the entire sadistic Blizz staff and all their flunky dirtbag forum gunners it's no surprise it's happening.

Suits me fine. I told them they were digging their own grave. EA games can burn in hell forever too. After the crap they pulled on my wife when sims 3 was released, we're never buying another title from EA. I never liked that stupid series anyway. It gave me a real good reason to forever ban EA from my wallet.

Anyway, Back to Blizzard. One more thing to say about them and I'm done. After the things they did to their player base over the last 5 years, there have been enough ex-wow player coders start their own MMo's as well as all the overseas MMO's pushing their way into the American market scene; It doesn't really matter what Blizzard does from here on out. We don't care. Starcraft, FPS, it makes no difference. If it's got Blizzards name on it, or even tied to Blizzard somehow. I won't even touch it.

You made your beds Blizz and EA. Enjoy the money you made with wow and the sims. It'll be the first last and only big things you ever do.

Personally, i hope it IS a Starcraft MMO...i never got into WOW...i think it is over-rated

@PiMD360: i think that Galaxies of Starcraft would be quite the fitting title

@drop_six nah, its long been known that theyre doing a completely new MMO project that isnt WoW, blizz released a statement as such after last years blizz con. It's described on the website as a "next-gen MMO", though no other details are given they also confirmed that it not only had nothing to do with WoW, but it was not another MMO surrounding the fantasy genre, which leads many to believe (including myself) that its a starcraft based MMO. Think about it, WoW was announced shortly after the release of a new warcraft title, Blizz could be doing the same shortly after the 3 starcraft titles are released.

Maybe its a PREQUEL to WoW, where you start out as a negative level character and have to level up to 1.

Creating another MMO is the same thing as shooting themselves in the foot. You split your client base, and once populations start dropping people won't hang around were there aren't alot of people to do things with.

sounds like it will be in the warcraft universe, but apart from the WOW game..the words.....not a direct sequel to world of warcraft are rather interesting

Hold on, he just said "Not a direct sequel to WoW." I thought it was going to be WoW free? It would be nice if he did mean WoW free, but eh, whatever floats blizz's boat.

Diablo MMO. It wouldn't be World of Starcraft, that doesnt even make sense. If it was a Starcraft MMO they would go with something other than World of, Universe of Starcraft even makes more sense than that. I would like to see an MMO with more than two factions though. Three would rock!

WoW 2.0 or World of Sanctuary based off the Diablo series. Blizzard doesn't have the talent anymore to be that innovative.

They've said before that this new MMO isn't going to be based on anything they have created so far. It won't be Starcraft/Diablo related, etc, it will be something new. But Blizzard doesn't always stick 100% to what they say, so you never know.

    I'm gonna guess it's Warcraft 40,000, lol. Hey it's a possibility...

If not that then it has to be an IP that's already been established. I don't think blizzard has the guts to create an entirely new IP and risk they're company reputation.

Well the words direct sequel are interesting here, meaning it could have something to do with wow, just not actually be tied in to it, somehow. If this isnt the case id guess thatll itll be more of a futuristic MMO that is inspired a lot by Starcraft but doesnt actually have anything to do with it. I doubt itll have any FPS type of gameplay either.

I think it is a World Of Starcraft or somethinhg similar. They will eventually make a game on the popular franchise that Blizzard own.

Of course its to replace wow. if you have the best mmo ever, why would you worry about doing another one. i guess everyone thinks that ff14 will not replace ff11?????? most people havent the time to play or money to pay for two mmo's.

the point of video games is to build up massive hype, and hope the people like them.At least blizzard games. I no pretty much any gamer is gonna get starcraft 2 mainly because of the hype thats been building. im guessing this gonna be like a sci fi version of wow.

Blizzard's next MMO has absolutely NOTHING to do with WoW

Two classes I can remember right now are the Juggernaut and the Wraith

Some major cities are so vast they make Stormwind look like an auction house

I know some people that work at Blizz and they've already seen some concept art recently before Blizzcon 09

Set for release 2014 I believe

Hopefully it's PvP based. PvP in WoW is a joke.
