Yes, I know, you all missed Casey terribly. Well not to worry, this week he's back to bring you the news and comedy you've come to expect from the MMO Report.
This week we're discussing the one million characters that have been created in Champions Online since the game launched, the new "Future Past" trailer for Star Trek Online, and the lawsuit between Interplay and Bethesda over the rights to make a Fallout MMO. hmm well if im posting the same thing up again sorry but i think my last one didn't get posted but the space combat in the star trek MMO looks familiar to the old star wars galaxies space combat very very similiar oh btw if u still play galaxies or did at one point HALLA!!!

wow haha that star trek game's space combat is...... oh I dunno oddly familiar to another space based game MMO something called star wars galaxies haha so fricken much like it damn i think the makers of galaxies worked on trek i dunno just reminds me of the game oh btw who still plays galaxies or once did halla!!!

The M. Night Shymalan / Nickelodeon Avatar "The Last Airbender" Is what I'm far more excited about. I think James Cameron's Avatar would be ten times less compelling were it not trying to be a film that's heavy focus is visual FX

Yeah the graphics in Avatar don't look that impressive and the story doesn't sound amazing. I mean do ANY of the characters have a goal to reach in this movie?? As far as I can tell it's a bunch of blue half naked people running blowing stuff up.
I will be seeing it opening weekend also.

i would like to start out by saying that i hope that you that work at g4 read this so that my pleas do not fall on def ears. i would like to make a sugestion you should do a review on the free mmo video games that are on the web. as a gamer that likes to play mmos and has a lack of funds due to the depression i have found that the free downloads found on the web are a god send. if you could pass this info on i would be oh so greatfull.

Very sad about the Fallout mmo because after giving 264 hours to Fallout 3 I figured gee how can I give more to fallout?
Oh and love the Avatar chat. I hope for greatness for it.

I wanted to hear more of the "discussion" about the potential suckatude of Avatar. I think it'll be a pretty good movie, I'm going to go see it. But if Casey does like it I expect to see him eating shoe cereal. =)

Love the show. However, let us be serious about PC gaming. It seems it is only MMOs at this point. For instance, PC users get the SHAFT in Modern Warfare 2. Sure you heard about it. Sure, most games are all about the XBOX and the PS3. Sure in MW2 most of the sales will be the infamous XBOX and PS3 and the PC sales are a nonfactor to most companies. However, there is a thriving community and set of PC dedicated users and gamers out there. As I type this out, I realize I am doing it on... a PC! You might even be reading this on a... a PC!
WE PC-Gamers do live.
On the surface it does look like us PC users are arguing for the sake of argument about this MW2 dedicated servers. This is about demoralizing an existing time proven PC group of gamers and the ability of turning a potentially great mature game of ModernWarfare 2 into a XBOX or PS3 version. If we wanted a XBOX or PS3 version of MW2, why do you think we do not simply BUY a PS3 or XBOX version of MW2?
First, there is a whole communiy out there who loves to MOD and create new features to existing games. Want to extend the life of a game? Easy, make it possible for the users to create nifty upgrades and mods.
Second, the official website points out about that THEY will be doing an AUTO MATCH MAKING feature.

I am not the world's quickest draw, gunfighter, nor can I use the mouse to down 5 enemies with 5 bullets in 1.5 seconds. However, I want to play against people who are better than myself. Believe it or not, I like to be beaten and whipped and want to have the ability to see and view other people who are better than me. I love to know how someone got a +10 kill streak on a one life per match server. It helps me improve my game. It lets me try to get the edge on people. It lets me improve. There is nothing wrong in auto-matching, if I want it. However, I will want it mostly off! How will I know what to do to better myself if I am with the same crappy low skilled players - all the time?
Third, I dont want any RAMBO SERVER and I want a mature server. I want a server that enforces you to play like a trained soldier and will reward players who do so. Versus a server that does not care and only reward people who can get the most kills no matter how unrealistic the events were. I am a nerd. MOST OF US ARE NERDS. Then there are people who think shouting out the latest 4 letter verbage is natural. If I wanted to talk about that or about "your mom" then I would join the XBOX live games. I want the ability to play with other like minded individuals who are wanting to increase the maturity of the game and raise the bar in skills and communication skills.
A Hardcore non traditional XBOX and a non traditional PS3 type server. Keep in mind, I love other games - other than MMOs and FPS. I love Stratgy games like civ and MOO (remember those games) ? I love the Mechwarrior series and I hope MW5 does actually come out!
I also want the ability to find like minded people and enjoy the game with my online frends. Would you believe I have met people online who I value my friendship over some real life friends? Just recently, a woman I have met online in a game came over on my birthday (yes women do play) and we had a blast meeting each other in real life! No I do not want online dating. Believe it or not, you can be friends. Regardless, I am looking for a core group of people who I like to get to know and befriend. Some people call them clans and other call them guilds. WHO CARES. I want to be able to join a server and know some or most of the people there will be people I will enjoy playing with.
I have not signed the PC Petition for MW2. Let us face it, the game looks amazing. I still want to play it! I know many PC gamers are angry, but most will probably end up buying the game. Sure, a few will hold out a day or two
However, if we truely want companies to listen we must do what is important to them... not buy the game - make them listen to us or make them lose money. if you sell out now, you are promoting lower quality games. Sure you will lose out on the Experience. But in the end, do you want high quality games or crappy games not worth your money? I have not signed the petition. It will not matter and most will still buy the game (one way or the other). However, if you are tired of game companies thinking the PC is only for WOW and other MMOs - do the right thing and DO NOT BUY THE GAME.
Until companies realize not to abuse their customers and listen to the game communities I will stick with games I want to play. Dont expect me to rush out and buy any XBOX or PS3 for this or any game I want to play on my PC. I have been a PC gamer for over a decade. Why should I change? If game companies dont make games for what I have - then why should WE spend more on a silly game system if we dont want or like to?
