Bad news: In a financial forecast released by Konami for the six months ending September 30, the company predicts its profits will have dropped 82%. Ow.
Konami is expecting to collect around 1.26 billion US in revenue, down 22.5 per cent on the same period in 2008, while net income is expected to come in at 24.3 million, down from 132 million.
Konami feels the loss in profits is mainly due to the fact that the company released Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots last year, and this year, it did not release Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. If you pirated any Konami products over the last six months, you are part of the problem, and I demand you turn yourself in to the proper authorities at once.

the funniest thing would be the writer acquiring those whose pirated to turn their self in. Really? what are you the blog cop? cmon stick with your writing, let the pirating to the FBI. Other than that, MGS4 is old, dont blame pirating to its lose. Games get old and people move on to bigger and better. Once the new MGS game come on then they will make some profit from it. Other than that, just stop crying, Konami has billions of dollars in reserve.

Wow.. revenue drops a little, and profit goes way down? Sounds like they r charging too much per unit of whatever software it is they r selling. Don't know if their casino games division is included in this forecast though.

I just hope Konami adds trophies to MGS4. That would probly get people to rebuy or play the game again. An I Agree with Spartan118. Release an HD version of all Metal Gear 1,2,3 including portable ops. That would be a Dream come true.

JohnKiller118 Yeah thats simple logic put it on all of the platforms except the one that brings in the most money with the biggest install base and while were at it don't forget about the DS to. With comments like these and developers having their heads up their a$$ its no wonder why development houses are closing left and right.Lets just crap on Nintendo and are uber company will be fine.Lets not forget not all TRUE gamers are bashing consoles on websites.There actually playing games.

I was in Vegas a few months ago and every other slot machine was from Konami. Things are getting bad everywhere, even Las Vegas. I would put a lot of the loss on them not selling a lot of machines.

Make another MGS. Hey do what they did to God of War. release HD versions of old MGS like MGS2,3 and Twin Snakes and have a classic collection with all the old MGS.

KONAMI MADE A LOT OF PROFIT OFF OF mgs 4 even though it was a ps3 exclusive AND THEY lost profit THIS year,I repeat THISSSSSS YEARRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Mgs was released LAST year and that is why they made so much money and because it was not released this YEAR their profit decreased by the fore mentioned amount. They did not lose profit because of the ps3 but because they didnt relase MGS this year or any other good game that i can think of. Do i have to dumb it down anymore for you. Damn,talk about giving gamers a bad name-gamers are usually stereotyped as smart. However, you guys the fanboys and the ones who think mgs being exclusive to the ps3 being the reason for this loss in profit are EPIC failures.

Anyway, I have a solution: Make more Metal Gear games, across all platforms (or the ones that matter, ie. XBox 360, PS3, and the PC. The Wii fails at life.)

Maybe Rocket Knight next year might bring them some profits, a lot of the fans are a bit worried about the art style, but if its even half as much fun as the first two on the Genesis/SNES, it should be well worth the purchase.

Right after Kojima says he likes twilight... na, of course profits were going to fall after mgs4 ran its course, they don't pump out hits like that all the time. Also Saw The video game had poor marketing and had poor sales, so that doesn't help, they aren't in the negative though so I guess its not that bad.

Maybe if they would've spent their time making more games like Street fighter 4 and less time making those ridiculous japanese games (that all look EXACTLY the same) that only sell in Japan, they wouldn't be in this mess.
Up your game Konami! We still love you and want to see you succeed.
P.S. No more stupid Castlevania fighters. It will benefit all of us.
