Microsoft Banning Xbox 360 Modders

Microsoft Banning Xbox 360 ModdersIt seems that quite a number of Xbox 360 users over the past week or so have been booting up their console only to find that their Xbox Live accounts have been ban-hammered by Microsoft. Turns out the house that Gates built has finally decided to take its boot to piracy’s neck in the form of mass bannings. As a spokesperson explained to IGN:

"We have taken action against a small percentage of consoles that have been modified to play pirated game discs. In line with our commitment to combat piracy and support safer and more secure gameplay for the more than 20 million members of our Xbox Live community, we are suspending these modded consoles from Xbox Live."

So if you’re enjoying your illegal games on your modded 360, play on at your peril I guess. And if you are among those modders who have had their Xbox Live accounts banned, I’m sure you’ve learned your lesson and will never mod a console or steal a game ever again. Mission accomplished.

Anyone out there have their accounts banned recently? I'm not looking to round people up. I'm just curious to see how widespread the bans have been so far.
