According to Cryptic, one million heroes have been created in super-heroic MMO Champions Online.
"We are very pleased with the wonderful praise Champions Online is receiving," said Jim Wilson, CEO, Atari, Inc. "We credit the great MMO fan base and look forward to seeing what players create as the game continues to grow and develop." Reports that over 250,000 of the million heroes created were named some variation of "Dong-Man" are not true because I made them up.
But seriously, if there are one million heroes in a place, how are there any heroes? Usually, you think of a "hero" as the one person who can save the princess/win the war, collect the treasures, etc. Cryptic has taken pains to make individual players' game experience epic and heroic with their unique Nemesis system, but I gotta figure that when you're walking down main street surrounded by hundreds of dudes in tights who can fly and/or smash buildings apart with their fists, you don't feel like the main-character in the story, know what I mean?
Have you played Champions? What do you think?
