Updated @ 12:02 p.m. PST: Electronic Arts has responded to the Reuters report...but didn't say much.
Electronic Arts is remaining silent, but it's becoming more and more obvious a sequel to Dead Space is coming sometime next year. Dead Space 2's existence has been mentioned several times on developer Linkedin profiles and a news report today filed by Reuters about Halloween and video games casually mentions Dead Space 2 is in development for a 2010 release.
"Electronic Arts has a pair of horror offerings for gamers. The publisher recently shipped 'Dead Space: Extraction' for Wii, which is a prequel to last fall's Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC hit. 'Dead Space 2' is in development for next year."
I contacted EA for details, but don't expect much more than a "no comment," if they even decide to acknowledge this. I'll update this story if the company comes back with anything.

DeadSPace is one great game i cant wait for the sequal and when Dead Space 2 comes out ima buy it i hope it has maybe xbox live or if you play PS3 PSN cus tat might be awesome like maybe a co-op campaign or like team necromoph hunt? But i also hope for a longer campaign cus i like games with long campaigns but not to long but a little longer then the first Dead Space.

very good news dead space was the game the made me care about ea games again. i still think it has the best sound effects of any game the generation, and great story/gameplay. if you have not played it yet go rent it.

I found the atmosphere of Dead Space creepy. Mostly just because of the things you would hear, so I'm glad there is a sequel. I hope they can improve upon some of the problems it had, such as movement and camera issues. Honestly they have the graphical interface, presentation and sound down to a key to be immerse you enough for it to be scary.
I agree with you as well Patrick, it would be nice to see some varieties of monsters, not just tentacle focused killing. You could easily throw in various strategies for the game play this way as well.

Can't wait! Dead Space is a really good game! It wasn't that scary compare to silent hill or condemded but good. The only time I got scared in Dead Space was actually the very ending of the game right before the credits roll up. It got me! lol.

didn't play dead space and really had no interest in it. guess i can save the cash for something more interesting.

Dead Space was one of the best games of 2008. I will definately buy the sequel!!!
