Feedback -- Borderlands Edition, Controversial Call of Duty, and Netflix on PS3

True story: I was prepping this post for this week's episode of Feedback, when I realized that Brian was about to describe what was contained in the leaked Modern Warfare 2 footage this week. I stopped the video player just in time, then decided to get a soda. Came back to my desk, and without thinking I hit "play" and boom: spoiled. I can be forgetful, sometimes. If you don't want to know what happens, pause your player around the 1:00 minute mark and skip ahead to 8:41. As for the spoiler itself...holy crap.

Feedback -- Borderlands Edition »

Stuff you shouldn't skip through:

  • Netflix streaming is coming to the PlayStation 3, does that mean we're getting the Sony movies back?
  • How does this affect the multimedia front in the Console War?
  • The group plays dress-up with their digital avatars -- who is for, and who is against?
  • Borderlands has lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of weapons. Is there a real difference between what you use?
  • Did Gearbox miss an opportunity to extend the replayability by mishandling the itemization?

Feedback: Over 17 million permutations since 2009. Shock the world and subscribe:

The guy who reviewed this is clearly a tool. This game is a five. The weapons to evovle he obviously didn't play the second playthrough. The legendary orange weapons are great. If you are going to review a game play it thoroughly. Clown.

we've been unlocking clothes on the psn for a while now, these ppl on this show should not be voices in the video game industry.why are they saying the psn is behind xbox live or it's hard to get around in???why does morgan sound like the ps3 is a person who she has a passionate under handed hate for???why are these ppl totally blowing how great the ps3 has become???this show should be an xbox live exclusive.

Trying to figure out how is L4D2 is the first game to implement avatar rewards? I unlocked a few shirts in home while playing SF4.

First off a lot of reading.... now for a really long post.

Ok the COD5 scene, I got a picture on the PSN stating that 2 gamers are going round and make fun of people and because of it a female gamer tried to kill herself. They wanted both gamers banned for their actions but anyone who try's to kill herself over a video-game doesn't have long in this world. The scene is the same way, those who have emotional issues shouldn't play M rated games because they are the one's who over react to games and parents paying M games for kids. while I have played M rated games and watched R rated movies from the age for 13 to now so I am biased in that case

And thanks for making it public knowledge that you read these comments

It might effect children? Children should not be playing M rated games. But that responsibility falls on the child's parents which in most cases in unfortunate which is sad to say.

Do games like Borderlands or other games make you wish that yall had a rating of 4.5 stars?

And just to be clear I am not talking about adding half stars to the other ratings, just 1, 2, 3, 4, 4.5, 5.

    Hey Trek,

Do you even watch other news stations? Everyone, I mean everyone knows Fox is biased. If they don't like you, they will bash you. Simple as that bro. John....Stewart!

Why must you pick on FOX? They made a mistake with Mass Effect and they redacted it, you sound like the typical liberal one-sided when you make multiple comments on how fox news will beat them up over this. I enojoy your shows and reviews but I thought that was not called for.

Ultimately video games are an art form and the point of art is to move people emotionally and make them feel something. That's what IW and MW2 are doing and I know I can't wait to experience that.
I love Feedbacks. Always intelligent discussion.

Like everyone else, I LOVE the Adam obscure reference counter, Thank you Blair!

As for the COD moment in question, I'm with Abby, Context. You can never come to a justifiable conclusion to anything in this world without first considering both sides. I like what Adam said also that IW always held such reverence for the armed forces, for them now to do a 180 and almost spit in the face of those who had made the game possible by providing the real world experience/expertise necessary for a fictional story on such a scale to be developed is from every perspective insulting at the least. I think IW is going to pull it off with tact and grace, the perspective of the terrorist, that is if they do not get kiboshed on doing so before it gets out of the gate.

First before anything, I love Feedback, X-Play, AOTS, and just about everything on G4. That said, ouch, just because someone has a different opinion than your own it does not make it invalid automatically, with the exclusion of FOX News, of course.

My main concern about COD: Modern Warfare 2 is that this won't be done tastefully, because the majority of the time, when one kill civilians in a game, it is usually in either a very very bad game, like the Columbine mod released a few years ago, or it is done in a world that was created done where the normal bounds of reality don't exist, like GTA and Resident Evil series. Now, I do believe that a game can be created that is full seriousness and I actually hope to see 6 Days in Fallujah but I am wary about how this MW2 will be handled.

If I heard correctly, Abby compared the scene in MW2 to 24 and other shows and movies. But I don't think Jack Bauer ever killed civilians and if he did it was never in that amount of causalities. And there are very few if any good movies that the hero of the show goes and slaughters a crowd of civilians. The reason the hero is the hero is when I comes to situations like this the hero is a good guy and does not partake or fights against this scenario.

Now do I believe that situations like this don't happen in real life, no. But the fact is the entire Call of Duty franchise is based on this movie like feel which says if it looks awesome in a movie let's do it and if it doesn't don't do it. This is why you don't see a discovery of the concentration camp in the previous WW2 games because it would have brought the full weight of the atrocity on the player and may have caused the player to stop and think. If they had done this in the past I may say, sure it makes sense for a game that has been completely serious in the past to be serious again and take massive leaps forward to surprise and shock people.

And the nuke in the COD:MW was not as big as it was made out to be because of the ad campaign at the time of release that showed the nuke so it was fully expected The level where you play as the president of the Middle Eastern country, on the other hand, was far more impacting because you felt like you had lost control of the situation you had been put in.

I will be getting the game and playing it all the way through unabridged my first play-through, and I hope the scene is done well enough to warrant another unadulterated play-through. The rest of the game I already know will be brilliant and fun.

Thank you for reading my rant,
    Mordor_the_Redguard

It's too bad that a Feed headline a few days ago already spoiled the MW2 secret for me...

Nice discussion on the Avatar Awards, but I don't think you mentioned this being done before. Someone said that the PlayStation Network is always a step behind in features when I believe the same can be said about Xbox Live (I'm definitely not mentioning the Wii's service)

The PlayStation 3 has always had a web browser, which gave you access to MySpace, Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, etc. since it's launch in 2006. The Xbox 360 is just getting that now. Also, Games like inFamous, Street Fighter IV, Resident Evil 5 and Katamari has been giving away free content like t-shirts, furniture, ornaments, etc. for PlayStation Home users since the beginning of this year. You can show this all off to friends and strangers in the Home community, which is just now being done on XBL.

I'm really not bashing or anything, so please don't reply with hateful comments if you disagree. I'm just saying. If you say one service is behind another in terms of features, try to get both sides of the story. I think some people just look at the grass on the other side and say "That grass is rather dull and brown. It's probably not as good as mine." I'm sure the folks on that side are saying the same.
