BioWare is releasing Dragon Age: Origins next week for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, but they are also readying another epic RPG experience for release on January 26, 2010. I am talking, of course, about Mass Effect 2, the follow-up to the hugely popular RPG released almost two years ago.
While you (and we) wait for more Mass Effect 2 coverage... BioWare is currently focusing on Dragon Age: Origins, after all... hold yourself over with some beautiful exclusive combat footage featuring Shepard mowing down enemy Husks, Scions, and Abominations.
Also, catch a glimpse of what looks like achievement/medal tracking near the end of the video. I'm so glad Gears of War 2 started that trend!
What was your favorite part or change? I love the new minimal design of this HUD, but it's unclear if it will represent the display of the final game.

dang.. Epic was right.. UT3 engine surely will shine by its later life..
But im pretty sure this demo was payed on a console. lol. poor targetting skillz.

Games looking good, i like the crosshairs now, more so then ME1, and I'm liking the HUD display (minimal). Not to much taking cover in the vid, hope it still as important as in ME1, i LOVED that about the last one, tactical cover and all. Then agian, i just noticed most of the enemies were melee so cover doesn't do anything lol. The major thing i would like to see an improvement on still is armor and weapon choice. I'm also alil confused as how this game is coming about, most of it seems to be Shepard being what i would consider "evil" or on the bad side of things, i hope they still have an expansive "good" or paragon side of the game. Overall this game looks as good, if not better then ME1, definite buy on release : ).

It looks a lot like gears(I know, same engine), which is not to say anything good or bad. Very visceral. This could be good. I hope that my Sentinel is as fun to play in an environment a little bit more suited to gunplay...
As far as RPGs like fallout 3 not being RPGs? Since when were there qualifications for an RPG? Deus Ex is my case in point. Best RPG I've played in a long time next to oblivion and ME1, and it was pretty fps heavy.

Looks much more frantic than the original. Graphics are much better too. Can't wait!

I prefer lifting enemies up in mid air and launching them across the map using my kinetic abilities, but hey that's just me.

I loved Mass Effect and I can't wait to play part two, but if I want to shoot zombies I'd play Left 4 Dead. Looks amazing.

I like the first game but it BARELY qualified as an RPG. Now that they've gotten rid of the wheel I have to ask, "Why isn't this just a shooter?" Don't get me wrong, I like shooters. But if you make a shooter, just have the balls to call it that and give the RPG section some breathing room for some REAL RPG's. I'm also looking at you Fallout 3.

Oh awesome, everyone criticized the combat in the original but I found it to be engaging and fun. The blend of real time and turn based (bring up weapon and ability UIs to stop combat) worked well for a space opera RPG. I look forward to the crazy weaponry and new abilities of ME2!

i don't like the HUD, i couldn't tell where the health/ shield meters were. why do the guns have ammo now? i thought this was the distant future with ridiculous technology that didn't make any sense to us neanderthals here in the present! but other than that i'm still excited for the game. looking good!

Wow, the models and animations are vastly improved, and the gunplay looks far smoother and more natural than before. Shooter fans should definitely appreciate the improvements. The party AI looks like it still needs improvement, and it would have been nice to see the player in the video use a combination of shooting and biotics/hacking to better show off what makes this an action-RPG and not just a shooter, but oh well...I have complete trust in BioWare to deliver another great story and some of the best dialoque/voice over work in the industry. This is a day 1 purchase, for sure.

WOW the game is looking really good, but its not all about pretty looks but when it comes to story Bioware never disappoints.

i would say, the impacts of the "Inferno Rounds", and how they started to put them on fire. And then there was that detail of (i want say) sheild, where his body turns blue.

Has anbody given any thought to the fact that the "Gears" feel (i.e. the Lancer bullets and reloading sounds and more fluid 3rd person camera) may be an attempt to get Gears fans interested who aren't so much into RPG's and who didn't pick ME1? Kind of ingenius marketing tactic, seeing as how they surely won't lose fans of ME1 as a result.

Mass Effect was one of my favorite games of all time and ME2 is looking to trump it in the same fashion that Uncharted 2 owned it's predecessor.

ok, managed to post half of my comment, but will not let me post rest for reasons of profanity..but no profanity even hinted at..this is so stupid, anyway..my other issue was camera angle, how you couldnt see him being hit physically by a husk even though he was being hit
