Orlando based heavy metal band Trivium announced on a radio interview yesterday that it has recorded a song for God of War III.
Guitarist/vocalist Matt Heafy said the following during an interview with Kidd Christoff of Baltimore's 98Rock:
"We’re actually making a song for the game God of War III. I don’t know if it’s been announced yet, but it is now. We’re making an original song for God of War III."
Keep in mind, this isn't an official announcement from the developer, and "we're making an original song for God of War III could mean anything -- it could be the soundtrack to a commercial, or credit music, or, really, anything. But if this just-recorded track is to be included in the game itself, it could signal a break from the orchestral soundtrack of the past two games... and a rock soundtrack would be a pretty huge change...
Do you think metal could fit in with the God of War universe?

Trivium are the backstreet boys of metal...what a freakin joke.

Trivium is a joke..

NOT COOL!!!! If Trivium's music is in this game I'm not buying it. I don't care if they're on the commercial but if they're in the game, I would hesitate to even rent the game. Not even the end credits. I hate Trivium that much.

Trivium is horrid. Whitechapel is a million times better.

"I don't know why they do that." It's not the first time that "Hot Topic" rock has been featured on a GOW soundtrack. Last time it was "Shadows Fall". I'm pretty sure, it was in the credits so it shouldn't mess with your game.

One look at that band and I say "pass"

keep it in orchestral form please. i love metal, but not in God of War

...worst news I've heard all day. What a mainstream, corporate manufactured garbage band they are. I saw them open for Children of Bodom and Amon Amarth a few years ago, and they absolutely butchered Pantera's "Domination." It was horrible.
GWAR. GWAR should do it. End of story.

I love Trivium and I love God Of War, but I am weary of the two together,
i hope it is just for a comerial, metal comercial could be cool and it would give trivium more exposure , also a win.

they couldnt of got a real band like havok to do it?
or megadeth?
they did the duke nukem and gears of war one.
or even mastodon?
mastodon wouldve fit perfectly with gow

Why can't they do both? I mean stick with the orchestral music and include rock as well? I mean look at Halo. Every Halo game has had an amazing soundtrack to accompany it and in Halo 2 it included a rock song called "Blow Me Away" by Breaking Benjamin and the song, at least in my opinion, worked great where they placed it and fit the mood beautifully. I say just wait and see and in the end it will be great irregardless.

God of War II had a contest for a song, in which the winner was included at the end of the official soundtrack. I'd imagine this is something similar for either the soundtrack or end credits.

Instrumental in game and then add it to the credits with the vocals, that's about the only way i think it could work well. I will say they picked a great band tho

Awesome, Trivium is a awesome band. They are not changing the soundtrack to God of War 3, people come on be serious and its not for a stupid commercial. Most likely it will be for the ending credits. I would like that. If not that, they are just making a song for the game just for them, cause they are fans of the game, period.

Like willy277 I think it would be awesome to have some intrumental metal but I also agree with TheAnimal22 that it would seem slightly out of place. I think if you used the metal for the big battles or bosses it would be fine but in areas where you are solving puzzles and the such it would feel out of place.

Its spelt Kratos
TheAnimal22
While metal would be fitting for a badass like Cratos, I don't think it would fit well in the environment of the God of War series.
willy277
well it depends, metal with lyrics, id prefer not...
but instrumental metal, hell yeah that would work
