Band Hero Adam Levine Trailer »

Activision has released the track lists for the console and Nintendo DS versions of its upcoming family-centric music game, Band Hero, and they includes quite a variety of genres and sounds (But not nearly enough Taylor Swift if you ask me. Just three songs?! Come on Activision. Don’t skimp on the Swift!) And while the majority of the tracks are clearly designed to make the game more family-friendly, there are quite a few solid songs on the list from the likes of The Rolling Stones, Marvin Gaye, David Bowie, and Pat Benatar. Since I don’t know enough about the game at this point to say if it’s going to be a quality title or if it’s just Activision’s attempt to further milk the music game genre for all it's worth. So for now, track lists will have to do:
  • 3 Doors Down – “When I'm Gone”
  • The Airborne Toxic Event – “Gasoline”
  • The All American Rejects – “Dirty Little Secret”
  • Alphabeat – “Fascination”
  • Aly and AJ – “Like Whoa”

    WTF? I thought this was a joke at first. I wasn't going to jump on the Activision-is-destroying-music -games bandwagon, in fact I was going to try and stay as far from it as possible but now I have no choice. May Activision and all of its glorious greed be struck down by the gods of music. I will be speechless if I find out anyone I know actually buys this garbage. Note to Activision: You can't just take the same exact game and call it something different to try and make some extra sales. If you had gone the more legit way and called it, Guitar Hero: Family Edition or something like that, I wouldn't have been able to complain as much. But in all seriousness, the new Guitar Hero just came out. IT JUST CAME OUT! You guys do know that DLC exists right? Hell even if you just made a track pack on disc like Rock Band does from time to time at half the cost, I could see it being done but this is just sad. An obvious lunge towards unsuspecting consumers wallets. How shameful. God I hope COD gets bought by another publisher, because if that happened I could happily say, "Go screw yourself," as I would no longer be playing games from that company. Ugh.

    I'm holding out for the Middle Eastern version, presumably named "Qatar Hero." The chance to play an oud? Can't wait!!

    BAND HERO=SUPER MEGA UBER EPIC FAIL.

    So did activisions last meeting go something like, "hey let's make a game that obviously shows we're selling out all of our original fans by using songs everyone knows and have heard plenty of times so at least when we make our next game or more DLC they'll be totally ready to kick aside these terrible tunes."

    ACTIVISION=EPIC FAIL

    Wow Band Hero has a better soundtrack than Guitar Hero 5. Thats funny.

    I would rather get Lego Rock Band where I can transfer my songs over and continue to grow my massive library :)

    @ sterling, you are correct.

    but really, this playlist makes me want to gag. I feel sorry for the masses who buy this game and dull their music senses. I think I saw a total of five ish good songs total on that list

    For those wondering why this (and Lego Rock Band) exist, there's a simple answer:

    They're family games. They're not made for those of us who want to rock (and be saluted).
