What's the deal with Lego Rock Band? The game is for kids, yet seems to feature only Lego Mini-figs of the most decadent of the 70s rock stars. Like today's announcement that Queen is in the game.
While Queen isn't in the league of Lego Rock Band's other stars David Bowie and Iggy Pop when it comes to legendary, over-the-top sex and drug fueled rock and roll mayhem, Queen vocalist Freddie Mercury's open gay identification and death from AIDS surely makes him pretty controversial to "Middle America." One of their biggest songs was called "Fat Bottomed Girls," then there's the naked bicycle race the band used to promote their Jazz album -- 65 nude women racing around a stadium in England! What's the next announcement, Lego Rock Band? Are we finally going to get a Sid Vicious mini-fig? Maybe a Lego GG Allin to play around with?
Queen by the way, are no strangers to video games. Back in 1998, the band starred in Queen: The eYe, an ambitious PC action game put out by Electronic Arts that contained 5 CDs worth of Queen's music.
Bonus fun Freddie Mercury fact: Mercury was a committed and pious follower of the Zoroastrian religious faith.
