The first of three episodes in Ubisoft’s upcoming short film series Assassin’s Creed: Lineage will be released on YouTube on Oct. 27. Hybride Technologies, the Ubisoft-owned visual effects studio whose work includes 300 and Sin City, developed the shorts, which will tell the story of Giovanni Auditore da Firenze, the father of Assassin’s Creed II’s main character, Ezio. The shorts will shed light on the events leading up to the upcoming game, as well as introduce players to a host of characters they will encounter in the highly anticipated sequel.
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said in a statement, “The Assassin’s Creed Lineage film series is part of Ubisoft’s ongoing efforts to reinforce its intellectual properties by bringing them to multiple entertainment mediums, providing gamers with a more immersive experience when they play as Ezio, the master assassin of Assassin’s Creed II.”
The teaser trailer definitely shows off some very 300-ish effects, and I’m still not quite sure how I feel about that. Still, I’m interested to see how the shorts turned out, if only because I want to play ACII so much, and I feel like torturing myself as much as possible while I wait for Nov. 17 to take its sweet ass time to get here.
