Madden NFL Arcade.

A stripped down, 5 vs. 5 version of Madden NFL is coming to the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live.

Madden NFL Arcade, billed as "pure adrenaline football for both casual and diehard NFL fans," will set you back 1200 MS Points on Live and $14.99 on the PSN. The game features 4-player co-op, a variety of game modes, different rules (60 yard field, no field goals, no penalties), achievements and customizable rules, as well as options like freezing players, taking away opponents passing icons, and other chicanery and digital tom-foolery.

You'll be able to download it " just in time for the holidays in December."

Although EA is billing the game as appealing to both football fans and non-fans, I gotta imagine the appeal will be greater for non-football heads. I'm a huge fan of Madden, but I cannot stand the gimmicks that are sometimes included with the game. I like my football games as realistic as possible, so clearly this is not the game for me. Perhaps it is the game for you, however, if you like the fun of football without the complications/depth.
