According to Queen guitarist Brian May, there is behind-the-scenes talk of a Queen-dedicated, full band music game. "Yes we're into it; I think it may happen," May told the BBC. Geez, Brian, isn't SingStar Queen enough?
May may be confident, but I, for one, am not. While I'm a huge Queen fan, I don't think the band has either the catalog or the good will of a band like The Beatles, and, in light of falling sales in the music game genre as a whole, I imagine game companies are being very, very careful about which music games they put out... besides, you can play Queen songs in music games already, so where's the demand?
On a totally unrelated note, Brian May is very flattered at being included in Lego Rock Band. "It's the ultimate accolade, to be portrayed in Lego," he said. "My dreams are all fulfilled now." How far his tongue was in his cheek when he ranked his Lego appearance above induction in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame isn't known.
What do you think of Queen? Are they iconic enough to support a branded music game? Or is DLC enough?
