It's October, and that means Halloween. And Halloween means horror films. One of the most innovative and spooky horror movies I've seen in a long, long time is indie flick Paranormal Activity. I'm a bit of a connoisseur of horror movies, and I caught the ultra-low budget PA when it was making the film festival rounds last year. I was immediately struck by the movie's Blair Witch verite style and slow-creep pacing. It tells the story of a young couple's descent into suburban terror by combining the best of "new," meta film-making technique with the best of old-school horror craftsmanship. Seriously: Big ups to Paranormal Activity.
What I'm saying is I like this movie a lot. And I think you should see it. I was worried that when Paramount bought the rights to it, the plan was to re-make the movie with a "name" cast, throw in a bunch of CGI and a "Hollywood approved" backstory and release it, while ignoring the source material because it's too "rough." But Paramount has instead decided to put out Paranormal Activity in its original DIY glory, but only if there's enough demand. That's where you come in...
Here's the call to action: Go to this link and demand the movie be shown. If over a million people want to see it, Paramount promises it will put the movie out wide and give everyone a chance to check it out. It costs nothing and is really a vote for good horror! So don't sleep. Join the over half a million internet people who want to see this movie!

The movie industry and movie goers alike need to wake up. There hasn't been an original idea in the last 50 years, there's always a remake that's worse than the original and the y don't deserve the accolades their receiving!

I voted for it.

I will check it out. I found another movie that may be even scarier at http://www.thestop6project.com

I really had my doubts about this film, knowing how bad the horror industry is doing (thank you horrible remakes), but looking at the comments of people that have seeing this film i guess is worth a shot.

Already did, like a week ago...
I swear, G4 is so late on everything...

Saw a midnight showing of this last sunday & I almost missed it because it was only supposed to be showing for two days. Fortunately the sold out demand for it prompted the theater to show it throughout the week, but only at midnight. I loved it ,though, i may never see it again!
The real terror of a movie like this is after you walk out of the theater at 2am and have to go home and go to sleep, Like I had to and couldn't!

I saw this movie last Sunday. It was really well done. It's an interesting watch, and it doesn't fall into the mold of most of the newer films that only use pop outs to try and scare you. I think the movie would be a lot scarier if you haven't seen the trailer though.

If you haven't checked out the trailer yet, it is well worth it. From other folks I have talked to that have seen it said this was probably one of the scariest films they had seen. This is old school suspense and terror done in a very new school way, no real gore and all nail-biting, seat-grabbing terror.

i saw the commercial for this film last night on TV. They were advertising to demand it in your area by going to their website. It's actually a film i'd like to see.

Even though I don't really know anything about the film, I'll gladly demand it just for the sake of helping out a small indie film. Now if only we could demand that they stop making the Saw films.....
