Did you miss Feedback last week? So did we. We only went dark for one week, though, and we're shooting a new episode for you guys tomorrow. Some changes are coming to Feedback, but one thing that is remaining the same is our emphasis on community and having you guys interact with the show directly. We need a reader question for this week's edition of Feedback, so I'm tossing it to you guys. What do you want to hear the Feedback crew talk about this week?

GAMES THAT ARE RELEASED WITH SEVERAL BUGS.

Many games this generation are being released with a lot of bugs. Gears of War 2 for instance has had 4 Title Updates in a 6 month period. There were plenty of bugs that could've been easily spotted and dealt with before the game's release.

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising also is about to have a patch weeks after its release.

Are developers just ignoring the fact that the game should be as little buggy as possible before release? Are they not worrying about it because of the patches they can release after the game is out? I find it kinda wrong to have to pay $60 for a game that isn't fully completed. The patches sometimes help, but they are usually rushed, which it turns out that you can fail at making a patch and in turn can create more problems than it solves.

I realize that most games come with bugs, but lately, it's getting ridiculous.

Does having a strict deadline by someone like Microsoft add to the problem? FEAR 2 was very well-made and polished. One of the reasons being that there was no big boss telling them to get the game done at a strict time. Gears of War 2, on the other hand, was probably being rushed by Microsoft.

Do you think that there should be more open betas for games? I can say that the general public can do a better job at finding bugs than a company that is paid to do so. And as proof, there are 565 archived glitches for Gears of War 2. And those are the ones that benefit the person who's doing the glitching. (http://www.glitcher.net/glitc hes.php?cat_id=186).

I, myself, love when games get delayed. It lets you know that the developers are concerned about releasing a broken game. It also lets them have more time to find and fix bugs. I wouldn't have minded Gears Of War 2 being delayed a few months.

as for people not educated on drm heres how things are
the old form of drm is the serial key that comes with your cd
new drm is quite different and it installs rootkits has allows only a few intalls
some drm as recent as spore's drm can hyjack your computer, it is extremely invasive and can even download stuff without your knowlege
the spore drm securom only allowed 3 installs
Ea got a bloodynose from this reception of spore and spore went to be 2008s top pirated game(the same pirating they were trying to prevent)
The game did sell a few million copies so they were compensated
talk about side stepping a pothole to fall off the bridge
no potentail customer will buy your game if the perception is that they will be harmed in some way
    gabe newell said it best
"all attempets at drm are stupid" (gabe newell, valve dev, and steam proponet(steam is also a form of "good" drm)
at the point YOU are locked out of a game YOU bought
its no longer about protecting your product, its now about ripping off your customers
drm is also on 360 and ps3(downloadables)
notable drm programs starforce steam securom serial keys

and yes devs should get compensated for their work
so my question is, WHAT IS A SMART WAY TO IMPLEMENT DRM, ARE THERE ANY OTHER WAYS TO IMPLEMENT SUCCESFUL DRM, IS VALVES STANDARD(STEAM) THE FUTURE, OR IS THE OLD SERIAL CD KEY GOOD ENOUGH?

everyone allways likes to talk about how its harder to develope for the pc because of its ever changing hardware. its really only half true.
valve could put out a source based game every month if it really wanted to.
and when they decided to develope the orange box for the 360 the game was delayed for a year and a half when the game was clearly finished for pc

for all its flaws the only advantage of consoles is being locked into the same hardware for 5+ years

I agree, my one complaint with the show is it's 99% centric on console games and pc games never come up almost.

It seems that the majority of the mainstream media still view video games as childish forms of entertainment, not to be taken seriously by adults. Let's also admit that most games sometimes tend to gravitate towards the the same cookie-cutter shallow story. But when a developer releases a game that offers a deep and meaningful story that touches on controversial subjects, the mainstream media cries foul and says such subjects don't belong in video games. What does it take to show the mainstream media that video game developers take controversial subjects seriously?

With the rise of the Console's, do you see Computer gaming dropping in price and the desktop computers to play them on dropping in price?

Hi, Long time watcher, first time commenter. My question is will virtual reality ever be made into a household gaming market?

How come existing popular franchises such as Halo, Mario etc, can get away with not creating much new game play for a sequel yet tons of new IP's get criticized for having in some cases some of the smallest cases of what could be considered unoriginal content?

    Hi,
Love the show. I am interested in your thoughts on what would be your criteria for the greatest game you have ever played. Some people are saying that Uncharted 2 could be that game for many people.

    Thanks

Why do I feel like all of the good creativity in first party gaming community is coming out of Sony's Camp? Microsoft is and has always been about taking an idea and making it bigger and better, but where has the creativity gone. Nintendo is still a very creative company. But I am 30 years old and have had enough of pokeman and it's variants kiddy games don't appeal to me at all. Only games with well developed concepts that are fun to play will get my dollar. I will still play Zelda, Halo, Gears, Metroid, and so forth but I am left with a feeling of been there done that. When can I see something new and ground breaking like an Uncharted, Heavy Rain, Eye Pet, Patapon, Invisimals, just to name a few. Let me know if you think anything new and innovative is coming out. If so I would love to support those developers.

I would be really interested in hearing the story behind the subtraction and subsequent addition of COD to the title of MW2, I bet it's a good one. It begins to sound like IW may have been the party to attempt to drop it, and Activision managed to squirm it back in there. Tell us that story please, or let us know where it is written, lol.

How do you feel about the alarming amount of politics that's arising in the gaming community? It went from a place where people of the same interest could go to enjoy games to a place where arguments and slander are a daily practice. A place where you could go to make friends to a place where you can only find enemies. Do you see a growing trend in this thought process or do you think it will start to level out and perhaps, go away for good? It seems to be only getting worse but then again, it's always darkest before day.

If one is to believe a recent article in Business Week that ranked the top 40 worldwide companies, then Nintendo is clearly the outstanding leader in this current generation of consoles. Of course this is merely a financial standing (Nintendo ranked #1 in the world even over such companies as GOOGLE and Apple while both Sony and Microsoft failed to make the top forty) and not a reflection of the gaming world itself. If you ask the average gamer on the street about their opinion on the Wii more than likely you'll get a negative reaction focusing heavily on its lackluster graphical abilities and almost total lack of good titles. So my question is as follows...

"What in your opinon could be done to improve the Wii and Nintendos standing within the gaming community? Is it already too late to change its image in the eyes of the supposed 'Core' gamers? And if so just what steps should Nintendo take with their next console to prevent this perceived image of lower quality gaming in the next generation?"

I know it's a widely argued topic, but why is DRM the kiss of death for gamers these days? Seriously the argument behind it is valid. If DRM is used to prevent the unauthorized copying of a game, then I don't see anything wrong with it. Let's face it, we live in a society that is controlled by money, and our inner hippies can whine about the fact that we actually have to pay for services we so desire, but if it doesn't make money, then it goes away. Look at Arrested Development.....Great show, no money, see ya later. WE NEED TO SUPPORT THE AVENUES OF OUR ENTERTAINMENT, if we don't we'll be stuck with gaming's version of Reality T.V. for the rest of our life. Cheap, run of the mill, most likely another shooter. DRM is making sure the good games out there stay out there and force your broke ass to get a job to support your habit.

What happened to the gaming community as a hole , for the most part it was one big family . But now its being taken over by rabbit fanboys and small sites/blogers who fuel the fire just to get hits for their sites . When will people remember that gaming is supposed to be fun weather its on a Atari 2600 or a NintendoXboxPS3

will we ever see more adult oriented games for the pc outside of the one meager handful that get released each year? So far I've counted 3 for this year while when i look at japan they got a couple hundred at least.

With the latest trailer of Modern Warfare 2, I felt that too much was revealed with the locations at the end. I was also surprised with how much Square Enix gave away with the last Final Fantasy XIII trailer. Do you think this will be a trend with gaming companies to divulge much more information about their games?

When will G4 finally stop complaining about that L4D2 Boycott? It's been more dragged out than Season 3 of Heroes.
