Has the PSPgo launch been a shot in the arm for the platform as a whole? According to early figures from the UK, signs point to "yes." According to a report today in GamesIndustry.biz, Sony claims that PSP hardware sales have shot up 120 percent over the previous week. It seems that several factors, including the releases of Gran Turismo PSP and FIFA 10 (which set an all-time cross-platform British sales record last week) helped stimulate purchases. Sony was quick to clarify, however, that the big boost was propelled both by PSP-3000 hardware as well as PSPgo, since the UK's Chart-Track was unwilling to provide separate data for either version of the hardware.
Of course, British sales charts come out more frequently than NPD does Stateside. Do you think that we'll see a boost in PSP hardware sales when October figures come out? If yes, do you think that boost will come from PSPgo, or from gamers picking up the more traditional hardware?

I got the go recently, I love it! :D Games aren't over priced at all. Neither are the movie rentals or purchase price if you want to own.

how many times must ppl tell other ppl, if you have a psp already it's not for you!! if you have a ps3 already which, a lot of ppl that own a ps3, owns a psp as well, what's the purpose of saying, "why not pay $50 and get a ps3?""

I strongly recommend anyone considering getting a PSP Go to check out the Ars Technica review, which is pretty informative and brutally honest. Let's just say, based off of that, it'll be a long time before I get a Go.

the system is overpriced, the downloadable games will most likely be overpriced

I would pay $100 for it.

I work at an electronics store.... and so far. we have sold one PSPgo. Our sales are usually ok on the PSP... but usually no matter what it is.. a new console sales. 120GB PLAYSTATION 3 sold out... any new xbox goes fast. DSi sell out. So why is the PSPgo not selling?? Possibly its the next dreamcast. A console ahead of its time. I bet in the future most games will be d/l content.. but i would like to spend $20 on a hard copy.. not one that goes on my "SONY" brand pro stick duo

as a Sony fan, i think a umd-less psp is a mistake. I like my physical copy but however there are sales tells me that Digital copy is now in. maybe soon enough Sony push the video store other places then the US. *Cough* Canada *Cough* The big part that bothers me of digital copy is that if you buy it, it's yours forever, can't resale it or get refunds.

Just say NO to the PSPNO.. Its a POS

My guess is that sales for the PSP Go will be high for a month or two before dying down. If I ever buy a PSP, it won't be the PSP Go, it'll be the PSP 3000. This thing is overpriced and you have Sony saying what you're going to pay for a game. Buy the 3000, and go buy the games used or from cheaper online retailers.

Im still deciding to buy a PSP Go, but please put the price down to $199. I'll buy that in an instant! lol

Got my PSP Go day 1... FREAKING LOVE IT

I just can't overcome the pricepoint with my desire to own.

I'm not interest in the PSPgo. I like my unbricked PSP.

I'm not interested in the PSPGO, but I might pick up the 3000 bundle with GT. My PSP's screen keeps fading out during gameplay (which convienently started happening about two weeks before launch....) but I like my free games, apps, and extras. That and 200$ is kinda spendy to me.

I was at best buy over the weekend and saw just one PSPGo on the shelves, so it must be selling some, but I don't think Sony plans for the PSPGo to replace the 3000, rather serve as an alternative option. It all comes down to costumer preference.
stormwalker4
I remember Sony saying sales were going according to plan about the ps3. If that is the case also with the psp and the pspgo then they need a new plan. Preferably a better one.
BertSaxby
I think it will sell based on lifecycle evolution rather than a spontaneous rush to buy. The PSP-3000's will sell out then PSP-Go will be the only offering. Whether or not the bump was because of sales on older PSP-3000's (to clear inventory) or interest in the Go is another question. In any case, it has ended up as a PR event.

NO shiz there is going to be a jump in sales this month because of the PSPgo. Its a whole new console, people are going to buy it. But im not because i went to like eight different stores and everyone was sold out of the go and walmart didn't even order any, so obviously people are buying them.

AN epic fail! If you're going to try and insult Sony, do it with proper english.
