How fitting it is that, right now, the Australian government is attempting to work its way towards establishing a 18+ rating for video games (due in large part to the recent Left 4 Dead 2 ban), and in just a few days time, Valve head Gabe Newell himself will be visiting the country. Not for any official business (or to smack some sense into anti-violent video game nuts there), but rather to visit a particularly avid Left 4 Dead modder name Joe W-A, who managed to raise $3,000 (in just 48 hours!) to fly Newell to Australia to check out his latest project.
This whole situation sprung out of a playful back and forth between Joe and Newell around the time many gamers were jumping aboard the “Boycott Left 4 Dead 2!” train, but after Newell agreed to visit Joe if the proper funds were raised, things got serious as gamers from all over the world came together to help Joe’s cause.
So sometime next week, one of the most influential and acclaimed developers in gaming will travel half way around the world to pay a personal visit to a gamer (and anyone else who happens to be in the area). Between this, and those L4D2 boycotters who were given a guided tour of Valve a few weeks back, it’s going to be hard for anyone to question Valve’s loyalty and love for its fans ever again. Newell's trip will be documented on L4D.com in case you feel like following him on his journey.

LMAO this game isnt the reason behind 18+ rating we've been trying to get 18+ before L4D 1 but we have our own version of jack thompson here xD
Personally dont see why L4D 2 was banned they allowed one they allowe dead rising resi 5 gears and many more .... they just need fire whoever decide's and put gamer's in xD

Definetly Tim Schafer. We would have a staring contest. But he would lose a lot a the beginning cause he would be looking everywhere confused at first, the then he would catch on my staring and stare back, probably while solving 3 rubiks cube at the same time cause he's that awesome, and then when all the staring is over we would laugh like the bestest friends and then he would leave and I would think back at all the great staring moments we had......

Ironically, the guy who's boycotting the game that he's going to see.....can't play the game in the first place because Australia's gonna ban it anyway.

Maybe they could show some of that love for fans by fixing the bugs in L4D instead of meeting with a few fans individually. Bugfixes mean more to me than them meeting with other people!

I think it's pretty cool that this dude is taking the time from his busy schedule to visit a fan who raised funds in ordetr to get him to Australia. I wish more developers were like this to their fans.
If i was to pick anyone to meet and share stuff with, it's the guys from Rockstar Games and i'd chat with them about everything GTA.

I think Valve is a fantastic company, and I LOVE their games. Gabe seems to me to be a very likable guy.
I would LOVE Peter Molyneux to come to my house. Mostly so I could show him how glitchy his GOTY awarded POS really is, and then to smack him in the head for all the hype he gives his games.
