Welcome to "Morning Hangover" -- an excellent way to start your day with the crew at TheFeed...no matter what you're recovering from. Every morning you'll hear musings from two of TheFeed's editors and have the chance to share your thoughts on what's going on in the gaming world. So buckle up, throw a Pokeball at the new week, and keep reading!

Super Street Fighter IV Officially Revealed

Jake Gaskill: When I wrote about Capcom's big Super Street Fighter IV reveal yesterday, I mentioned that the standalone title will not be compatible with Street Fighter IV because of the number of tweaks and improvements that Capcom made to the online portion of the game. At the time, I thought that this had the potential to cause some bad blood among SFIV fans, but now I realize that this is actually a much more troubling issue that I previously thought. Because basically, the new game serves as a straight up replacement of SFIV, since it contains all of the old content plus eight new characters and a host of gameplay tweaks and improvements designed to make it an even more stable and well-rounded fighting game. For SFIV fans, the new game is a must buy, because why would they not want the definitive Street Fighter IV experience?

It's this mentality that is troubling because it promotes disposable gaming. "Forget that full priced game you bought last year. Buy this new version, even though it isn't even close to a full sequel, and get the game that you kind of wanted the first time around. Oh, and you'll kind of have to buy it if enough other people buy it, because you won't be able to play against anyone online unless you have the same version of the game that everyone else is using. Sound good?"

Am I off base on this one? Am I getting worked up over nothing? Will there be enough SFIV owners willing to stick with the original game to keep the game alive and well online?

Patrick Klepek: I don't mean to keep harping on Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, but since a copy has yet to land in my lap, I've been contemplating doing something that pretty much never happens to me with video games: turning on the original again. Though the last few hours of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune was tainted by a poorly planned twist and overbearing amounts of combat, everything before that was superb. But since I'm usually moving from game to game, I don't tend to play anything a second time. I doubt I'll finish Uncharted, but simply wanting to pop the disc in? That's impressive.

There's games that tout DLC support before they're even released if you really have a problem with it, people. In addition, If the SF people say online isn't compatible, then trust them - I'd rather have a BETTER oonline experience than one that's buggy and crashes.

Yes, SFGames get ALOT of iterations, but my friends(who hate SFIV and think SFIII is the best thing since sliced bread) seem to enjoy it.

Personally, I want to see what they'll do w/ Dan, and not sure if I'll buy it...no job = no money

I don't see why anyone would complain about this. EA Sports does this every year and people still go out and buy they new version of their favorite sport game the day of release without a second thought.

While this game is going to be similiar to SF4, it will be a completely different iteration with new game mechanics, new online systems, completely revamped characters and up to 8 new additional characters! Also, the story line has changed and been updated, as it's slated to take place one year after the events of SF4.

All these things makes this a whole new game in my opinion and worthy of a disk release.

People are forgetting Oblivion's expansion, it had waaaaaaaaaaay more content than this and it was 20$ DLC not a new title.

All they are interested in is making money, not the best sf game. Look at the final fantasy series, how many remakes can you make of the same game. Get over it and put out a NEW game already. And lets not forget ninja gaiden either. The same game over and over??!! Im done with that series for good.

Good luck to Capcom with street fighter, the real champion of fighting games comes out at the end of the month, (Teken), but I'm sure there will be alot of people still unable to fight in 3d so they wil sell a few.

After I beat ODST I popped Halo3 back in, too bad I prefer ODST's game play.

Playing a game twice is hardly "The Unthinkable." There are games I've played literally a dozen times. It's kinda like watching a movie you love again, only in a video game you get to engage in the action.

in the days of DLC I can't understand this. 10 years ago this could be acceptable but now? minor tweaks and new characters sounds like DLC more than it does a new title. at least ODST could be argued that it was a separate title, this has none of that.

@ Patrick - really, you never go back and play old games again? That's one of the main reasons I keep some of my favorite games, Once a year I play a Link to the Past and I try to play KotOR every now and then. I especially like to go back and play a game again when the sequel comes out to get reacquainted with the story. Although playing through Uncharted again I remembered how the first one really fizzled at the end

    @ Patrick

It's funny because I do the same thing sometimes. Like when MGS4 was close to coming out, I pulled out MGS3. Of course I didn't finish playing the whole thing, but it's funny how promising sequels make you do that, especially when the sequel is a totally different experience from the last one. After playing MGS4, I can't imagine going back to 3. I can't wait 'til Uncharted 2 comes out. The first one was awesome!

I'm kind of surprised to see you question an upgrade to a title given The Feed's overwhelming support for replacing games I've already bought with DLC in lieu of backwards-compatibility. It seems sort of hypocritical.

I think 8 new characters and new mechanics is worth it, especially for serious players. Super SF4 isn't fan service for casual players. It's fan service for serious and hardcore SF4 players. If you want to play "super awesome games from 1999" that's great and all, but this is the current-gen champ. If you're no good at it, this release isn't for you.
