This week is a big one for Sony since its highly anticipated PSP Go will finally be hitting store shelves on Thursday (October 1st). A few of us here at G4 had some hands-on time with the new portable device last week, and everyone came away mighty impressed. But what’s a cool piece of technology without anything to do on it? Well, Sony has made sure that this won’t be a problem come launch day, as IGN recently found out.
Sony says that it plans to have 225 downloadable games, which consists of full PSP games, PSN exclusives, UMD games and Minis, Sony's new iPhone app-ish games division. On the non-gaming side, there will also be 2,300 movies and 13,300 episodes of television shows, and more. All in all, there’s expected to be around 16,000 pieces of content available on day one. Not too shabby at all for the latest digital darling.
How many of you are picking up a PSP Go? What’s the first piece of content you’re going to download?

The 3000 and the GO are essentially the same price once you consider that you have to buy a $60 memory card for the 3000. I personally have no interest in lugging silly little UMDs around with me. Besides, the price will come down.

I hope Sony doesn't think this PSP GO is going to compete with the I-pod touch or I-Phone. The price indicates that ideology to me. I am not a fan of Apple by the way.

HEY LOOK KIDS, you can buy the same games you already own AGAIN and pay for them a second time.
FU SONY.. You can keep the PSPNO

225 games sounds good to me. And I'm sure they will add more older titles (and of course news ones) as time goes on. I ebayed my PSP-1000 and UMDs, and will buy back digitally a few of those games I still want to play on the Go.
As far as people hedging about the price, I agree, but I think Sony is trying to price the PSP along the lines of an iPod Touch (8GB=$199;32GB=$299). I think both the PSP Go and the iPod touch are a bit overpriced.
But if you look around there are Go deals to be had: TRU is giving a $20 PSN card with Go purchase. Dell has the Go for $212 with coupon code (check Slickdeals.net)

I'd have to see the full list to be impressed. Nintendo also touts that they have a huge collection for the Wii, and it's mostly junk... sadly.

225 downloadable games? Wow. Maybe I can add the PSP Go (with more memory) to my Christmas list.

I really wish people will just shut up about the price. I bet you every one of yall that are complaining about the price own an IPOD? and not the nano. Probably the touch with at least 8 gigs of space on it. Well the PSP does everything the touch and them some ( of course it doesn't have the touch screen or iTunes ). Damn the price is rite where it needs to be for a product of its capability.

This sucks cuz I really want the PSP Go but the price point is killing me. I feel as though that at $249.99 it should of probably came with a camera, 20gb internal memory, and $20-30 psn card or 1-2 free downloads that way early adopters have something to play right off the bat. That said, I'll be holding off til sony does something about that price.

They have 8GB and 16GB cards. I bought my 8GB at Best Buy for $30 a few months back. i think 16GB cards are $60 or $70, though.

For all the psp gamers out there it's christmas comes early. The only problem is, so many games and movies but little space to put them in. I can only download a few psp games and ps1 games on to my memory card. Not to mention movies and music. I'm already on my third 4gb card. I hope they come out with some larger gb memory cards.

Guess that would explain the Thursday release. Hope that's true, but I'll believe it when I see it.

I believe the games are launching when the PSP Go comes out, on Oct 1st.
As for myself, I'll be picking up God of War (which I already have on UMD, ugh..), Rock Band Unplugged, Daxter, and either Patapon 2 or Resistance.

I will get a PSPgo when it has a camera on it. They could have put one up there,those lazy bastards
RickAstin
The problem with that is..
Canada doesn't have any of that tv or movie content....
yes at least we get the games...but yet again there's another issue..
No PSN cards available..and I refuse to put my credit card online...I may be a tech geek...but I still have my technophobe tendencies packed under the skin...
thus the PSPgo would be completely and utterly useless to me..and that's not even getting into the pricepoint...

Does anyone know if the PSP 3000 is hackable yet?

@140000541 and @xJOHNHESSx
You do know none of those games are out for download on the PSN yet, right? And they pbbly won't be for a while.
@BertSaxby
They already gave an answer @ TGS. Big NO!

Sony has released a new PSP model every year for the last few years now and this one is much more expensive than the rest. I'm gonna wait until they release an actual successor to the PSP before I upgrade, and by Sony's thinking I'm gonna have to wait until 2014 or so before that happens.
140000541
first day im gettin god of war, resistance, gta liberty city, crisis core, mgs portable, then idk monster hunter or maybe gran turismo. damn, i hope these are at most $20. im runin out of money.
BertSaxby
Not buying one until they disclose what will happen with the UMD media that users already have. If it ends up being 'suck it up and buy it again' then no I won't be getting the Go until the old PSP dies which could be a long time and perhaps outlive the marketing phase of the Go.
