Welcome to "Morning Hangover" -- an excellent way to start your day with the crew at TheFeed...no matter what you're recovering from. Every morning you'll hear musings from two of TheFeed's editors and have the chance to share your thoughts on what's going on in the gaming world. So buckle up, get ready for the PSPgo, and keep reading!

Jake Gaskill: Sony held a mini press event last night here in Los Angeles (during
Kaz Hirai’s TGS 2009 keynote no less. The nerve!), and one of the games on display was the digital pet simulator for the PlayStation 3,
EyePet. Now, I’ll be writing up a full preview of it next week, so I won’t go into too much detail right now. But what I will say is that Sony has done some pretty impressive things with this thing, especially in the augmented reality department (basically just a way of having a real-world object display a virtual object onscreen). For instance, you can hold up the card and a water can will appear on the screen as if it were in your hand, at which point you can freely manipulate the object in virtual space. It’s a simplified version of the motion-control technology that Sony is working on at the moment, and yet it’s incredibly sophisticated and satisfying. Better yet, it’s been woven into the fabric of the game in tons of unique and interesting ways. And that’s on top of all the actions and such of the
EyePet itself.
Again, plenty more on this next week, but I just wanted to give you a heads up in case you had either written off the game, or weren’t aware of it, because it is definitely worth keeping a very close eye on.
Raymond Padilla: I'm off to Japan (again). As you'd expect, I carry a wide assortment of entertainment devices during trans-Pacific trips. This time around I'll have my PSP, some trade paperbacks, a bunch of magazines I have to catch up on, and my iPhone. Before my last trip, I downloaded
Civilization Revolution for iPhone. It was on sale for $2.99 -- in the immortal words of Jack Burton, I figured, "What the hell...."
It's just a fantastic handheld version of Civilization and the best gaming value I've had in years. It's fun, addictive, and helps pass the time when jet lag is hitting you or you can't fall asleep on the plane. I've already spent dozens of hours playing it and expect the game to claim dozens more from my life. All that for $2.99? I'm just blown away by the value.
My question for you on this fine Friday, what games to you constantly replay? What are the best gaming values in your collection?
TheFeed gang wants your thoughts on gaming, tech, the motion control wars, and more. Let everyone know what you're thinking and chat it up with your fellow readers. Leave comments on anything and everything that's on your (gaming/tech/nerd) mind! The reader with the best comment will shake up the world like Ali!

@ Dr. Gaskill;
Too bad Nintendo didn't come up with that technology. Can you imagine a "virtual reality pet" Pokemon game? The thought of the possibilities make my head explode.

Why did Gamefly give me two PSP? I was trying to get Persona but I'm not sure I needed PaRappa the Rappa.
Also Brutal Legend is the best game of the year, and yes I'm basing that off the demo alone.

MORNING TRIVIA:
(Another in the "TV firsts" category)
Who was the first person to drop the F-bomb on live national television?
Shockwave562
I think my reigning champs for most time spent on a single game are KoToR, Oblivion, and probably the original Halo thanks to LAN parties every weekend back in high school.
oh and definitely the SNES Zelda... I play that game at least once a year (problem with games that old is they are generally short, so I don't put a lot of time in at once)

@ RPad
Mass Effect. Sure, I got it when it was $60, but I've gotten hundreds of hours of entertainment out of it, so that to me is a good value.

OK, can someone please tell me the difference between Sony's EyeToy and MS's Project Natal. I'm by no means a tech whizz, so I'm honestly asking. The more I see of EyeToy the more it looks like a Natal. They seem to have the tech involved. Someone school me on this.
halophile
it's obviously not popular to talk about eyepet this morning. BUT this is a day one purchase. My neices and nephews are going to go ladygaga for this at thanksgiving.

Civ. Rev. for the iPhone/iPod touch is awesome. I got it a while ago and think it's one of the more fun games on I have for it.

I have played through Uncharted 6 times. That game never gets old to me. I normally don't care about trophies but I got the platinum trophy for Uncharted since I've played it so much. Looks like I'll do the same for Uncharted 2.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RAYMOND PADILLA
tokz_21
@Rpad. i really don't replay games that much. There's just so many to play right now and so little and so little time. The only game I am consistently playing and this is like twice a week tops is Fight Night Round 4. Have a safe trip!
gentle
