After initial reports out of Japan that the PlayStation 3 version of Bayonetta does not appear to be on the same technical level as the Xbox 360 version -- suffering from frame rate hiccups, for example -- and an explanation from developer Platinum Games that Sega actually ported Bayonetta to the PlayStation 3, I was curious to ask the development team about that process at Tokyo Game Show.

Unfortunately, I was not given that opportunity. Just before my interview, I was informed the Bayonetta team would not be discussing the PlayStation 3 version of the game. At all.

The PlayStation 3 version should be on the show floor, however. I'll attempt to seek it out today and let you know how it stacks up.

    Agreed. I hate my 360 games being delayed, but the Devs are delaying their pay as well. Well at least there are other games to play, but if they wait to long I may be busy with other games and wait for theirs to hit the bargin bin.

    I might be way too much into Mass Effect 2 and not even want Bayonetta until fall 2010. Their loss.

    Anyone besides me think lucidity has some 360 fanboy-ism in him?

    @Tmidiman

    Good points, this would account for all the delays and extraordinarily long development times.

    You can't expect ps3 exclusive devs to voice complaints about making games for the system. I believe they are having troubles too. But sony is smart aout not releasing any info until the game is ready to show.

    Easy programmability is something that all console makers strive for. It was something Nintendo talked about generations ago. Rest assured that the next sony system will be better and they will learn from this mistake.

    Refusing to discuss your own game. That's great business and PR practice.

    These little guys at platinum couldn't get to a decent game for the almighty PS3 and had to give the job to Sega.

    To think one of the most impressive games in history is coming to the PS3 in a couple of weeks. No wonder nobody at platinum doesn't even want to talk about it.

    @PS3fears360

    All I'm gettin is a lot of hot air, and could I offer you a breath mint?

    Anyways, seems to me that, if they're not even open to questioning about why they're allowing the release of an inferior product, I have no reason to buy this. Also, there last statements about the "differences" do not suffice. On the other hand, it looks like a good game to pickup from the used shelf. None of my money goes to a lazy dev, and I get to wonder just what exactly is the mystery stain is on the front cover. It's a win, win!

    The ps3 may be a bit complicated compared to the 360 since the 360 is more similar to the ps2 and previous consoles out, but by no means should the ps3 be overly complicated at this point in time. I know that the devs for this are not big shot devs, but there should at least be a standard for multiplaform games. They tend to be just as good on both consoles and the only different is exclusive content but as I have been saying if they cant even polish a port to the ps3 then for some devs I may begin to question whether the entire game is going to be good.

    P* is not some big shot developer, it would have taken then alot longer and it would have been alot more expensive to create Bayonetta on the PS3 first. Rather, they made it on the 360 first, since it's easier to work with, then handed the PS3 port to Sega since they have more resources to handle it.

    Dont insult the developers, I can imagine they just want to make a good game and not waste all of their time trying to figure out the overly complicated design of the PS3.

    Well if its obviously inferior to the 360 version...I'm not buying it.

    Besides, won't MAG be out by then?

    Well guess I am not getting that game, if the developers don't care enough to do it themselves then I don't care enough to play it.

    I love how the PS3 fanboys think their console is so superior when it can't even run a multiplatform game correctly. Ghostbuster, GTA 4, Assassin Creed on top of several others have run poorly on the PS3 and required several patches. So quit blaming the developers and saying their lazy. Its not their fault your blu ray player is a piece of crap.

    Any game that requires more than 250mb of GPU or 250mb of CPU is not possible on the ps3.

    Eurogamer has amassed approximately 130 comparisons of multiplat games in a series known as "face off".

    !30 plus reviews can't be wrong, there is a pattern here. A pattern of lower frame rates, higher numbers of torn screens, and missing high end effects ( screen space ambient occlusion)

    It would be foolish to expect a developer owned by sony to say otherwise. MDS is coming on the 360, konomi is not owned by sony.

    I won't say one system is superior or what games can't be made other system cause I have both systems. But I will say that this has hurt their chance at a sale from me with all this drama. I know people will say get it on the 360, but I like my action adventures on Sony's platform, they play better on a system that has a rich history for the genre. All the 360 games that I like and own are shooters (not Halo). But in the long run the PS3 is the better deal. I have or had 30-50 games and only 6 games for the 360 and 2 are Gears games so you get the point. Gamers play games no matter what system because true gamers have more than one system. Love live the true gamers out there, cause I hate fanboys

    Instead of a port they should build the PS3 version from the ground up. The PS3 is superior to the Xbox. Most PS3 exclusives are not possible on the Xbox. Killzone 2, Uncharted 2, LBP, MAG, MGS4, and the list goes on. This is lazy developers once again. Name one Xbox game that not possible on the PS3. Just like I thought.
