Come on guys this game is going to be amazing, just play the demo. You guys are going to look really silly with all these hate comments when x play gives this game a 5.
Brutal Legend is sort of an underdog, I wasn't interested in the game until I played the demo. The game also has a valid point, not trying to troll here but there are alot of crappy music groups out there that take advantage of the fact that most americans know very little about music and playing musical insturment in general, so they end up getting undeserved sells via people that will support anything that is popular.

i think Brutal Legend will be a great game not because of just good gameplay or multiplayer but because of the over all experience and this game looks like it definitely has it after playing the demo and looking at some clips
the experience is how uncharted 2 got such a good score
Also its made byTim Schafer!(the guy who made psychonauts!) it deserves the hype!

All hype, I don't see the big deal about it. Not GOTY material. Seems just like a hack-and-slash game. No interesting gameplay elements. Assasins Creed II has poisoning, hiring mercenaries-thieves-ect.
so that seems like GOTY material.

No way Brutal Legend will win G.O.T.Y. It's no where near that good. After playing the demo I'm not excited for this game.

It's not a music game, for those who think it is. Activision WANTED it to be a music game like Guitar Hero.

I'm with DreamingDarklyRobin on this one though, I can't wait for this title! It'd be nice to see a game other than a shooter get GOTY.

No, I disagree. I think Uncharted has a good shot at GOTY. But ODST and GTA: Episodes of Liberty City as GOTY? I don't think so. It doesn't make sense for an expansion and DLC to make GOTY. They'll probably be nominated, or at least ODST. I just don't see it getting GOTY. Left 4 Dead 2 on the other hand, has a pretty good shot.

Wow, very insightful start. But seriously, you're going to trust a demo? Don't do that. Demos are a good way of getting a feel of the game, but it's not necessarily accurate to the full game. I'd rent it if you're skeptical, but that's just me.

While I agree with your statement... it was a little hypocritical to call him a "sheep that jumps on popular game bandwagons", but later saying that MW2 will be epic. Modern Warfare is one of the most over-hyped games of all time. I see what you mean, but it does make you seem like a hypocrite. Other than that and saying "you suck", I agree with you.

It sucks that you cant appreciate an awesome looking original game but i find it funny that your game of the year picks are just all the games that get the most hype, your just a sheep that will jump on the bandwagon of whatever is popular and for that i feel sorry for you because you'll probably never be able to enjoy things in your life to thier full potential.
P.S. You suck, Brutal Legend will be epic!!!!!! As will MW2

I don't know about the gameplay yet, but the entire premise of this game is uber stupid. We have games about music, they're called Rock Band and Guitar Hero...but a "heavy metal world" that looks like it was designed by the Robot Chicken staff in 10 mins isn't my idea of a great game world.
PS: No way of being GOTY, at least with game critics that aren't paid. Modern Warfare 2; Uncharted 2; Batman; Infamous; Prototype are much better choices, at least in premise...

I agree with you! I think Brutal Legend has a great shot at being GOTY. And just ignore FLP_B01. My guess is he is upset b/c your not doing as him and the rest of the Sony fanboys by declaring Uncharted 2 the automatic GOTY winner. I know Uncharted 2 has gotten great reviews but there is still many great games it has to compete with like Brutal Legend, Left 4 Dead 2, CODMW 2, GTA Stories Of Liberty City, Tekken 6, ODST, and critics liked games like Infamous, Batman AA, Punch-Out, SF 4, RE 5 among others I forgetting from earlier this year. Im not bashing Uncharted 2 but IMO a GOTY win is not going to be an easy win as some people think.

I played the demo and the game looks mad broken. When moving the character around, he moves very stiff almost in a hopping motion, Its a great concept, but the gameplay = complete utter crap
So much hype for this game for nothing. I remember when Too Human got alot of hype and it ended up being one of the worst games to come out. Developers need to focus more on their game play first before their graphics and story. It doesnt matter how nice you're game looks, If it looks nice and plays like crap then its crap and a waste of 60 dollars. and a waste of the millions of dollars you wasted developing bullcorn like this.

how do you know if its a GotY contender? Have you seen any reviews yet?
Its a new IP and it doesn't have a huge fan base yet.
The game does look nice and has different style to it, plus all the metal legends! But I might just rent it first.

I'm looking forward to this game, but like others here I wonder too why it is being over hyped so much. I have purposely not read or listened to the hype media since it tends to ruin the experience with more information than you would really need. Dante's Inferno is being over hyped as well.
Maybe it's because without having new infomation on a game every 3 days the media would have nothing to talk about. Again how about looking into rather R* will release an udated version of Body Harvest, or if there are any remakes coming for Blaser Master, Blast Corp,Pilotwings64, OR even any VC releases for the Wii? How about an update on Perfect Dark for XBLA?
Also Brutal Legend won't even be out for another two weeks. What's the rush on releasing this special anyway?

I loved the demo and preordered the game. All Tim Schafer games are great, and as a self professed Metal Head, this game will be right up my alley.
And @Aephor: innovation does not always equal fun. Take Too Human for example....
