I kind of liked ODST and I liked the other HALO games as well. But many people are bashing the game because they are playing the game like a previous HALO game and not learning from their mistake. And then they judge it on the "HALO rating rubric" instead of looking at it as a different type of game.

But Adam, I thought games needed to have reference? Or at least, that's what you said a few weeks ago? How can we look at Halo ODST without referencing the games that came before it?

To add my 2 cents to this since it seems that everyone here has lost their dam mind. I look at ODST as this. It has been marketed to the public as this an expansion to the Halo 3 sage with a campaign and firefight to allow gamers and deeper and slightly newer look into the Halo franchise. Now what pisses me off is all I have heard is that people who don't even like the game series since Halo 1, 2 ,3 are the biggest loud mouths I hear. Shouting the game scores on different websites and such and just being complete idiots. To end this in the title of the game is called is Halo "3" ODST....It was not called Halo: ODST it was not suppose to be this grand plot twist into this new world of imagine this and look at these new things. No it was suppose to be apart of the Halo: 3 series campaign an "expansion" If your drunk, high, retarded, or just stupid shut up. Don't like Halo don't buy the game. You like COD, KZ, Uncharted, GOW, whatever your flavor is don't talk about it when the topic of discussion is Halo itself and come here being all arrogant because you said Halo sucks. Adam said it himself that going against the grain. And to me your doing it because you want to look cool, hip, or edgy. to your friends who would give anything just to shut you up. Most of you I know wont read my comment cause sadly this was a argument that happened 5 days ago but for those of you do shut your mouths and quit crying on forums about how you think Halo needs to die. Most of you would have never even enjoyed shooters on a new console or even the fact that we would have been stuck in the dial-up era if it wasn't for the fact that Halo series. We as gamers owe a lot to Halo and I'm tired of the constant negative remarks that don't even hold any truth come out. Yeah it was very little for 60$ but it gave me a experience I will never forget and that to me was worth every last penny because I actually had my eyes open to having a good time not just wanting to find some fault so I can come to some website and post about it like some sad lonely person. Get a life...because gaming is not for you.

I'm just a gamer. I only played Halo 3 because it came with a game I really wanted, Crackdown. Since it was fun I decided to purchase it and I have enjoyed it. ODST May be good, but sicne I'm not into FPS I'll let others enjoy it.
That being said I'm glad 360 gamers are not being pathetic and claiming that this is a system seller like ps3 owners do every time they get a game released.

i like the game i was always a halo fan so maybe that kinda is the main reason but still if it wasnt halo id probably still like it it has a good story and solid game play though if it wasnt a halo game it would have to be a bit longer

The first time I toggled two joysticks in unison to manipulate a reticule was with Halo. Futuristic Sci-fi shooter that supported lan multiplayer matches. That is why it is a good game and that is why ODST with all the nostalgic players, like those playing Super Mario, will have the same success. Halo is a universe like DC and Marvel that has a depth of history that has been marketed in multitudes of ways.
To put it simply I love playing COD but playing team based games with no "real tactics" is the only factor that makes shooters just the same rehashed BS no matter what or how you play. Halo: ODST deserves its score because its a non-linear shooter that applies a open world mechanic that revolves around a possibly important storyline that reveals new information about the halo universe. Its also serves a dual purpose of giving those who didn't buy the maps or want a new live account a disc that has all of the MP maps.
If you don't like it don't buy it and if you bought and don't like it deal with it.

and my i also say that the achievements are great. Some of them are kinda easy and come with progression in the game but the vidmasters were really fun and the 200,000 on each firefight level are amazingly fun and a barrel of laughs if your playing with your friends not to mention adding hours to the life of the game.

Using Metrcritic to "prove" your point that "halo sux lol" shows that you're a sad, sad human being that needs to get a life. What makes it more disturbing is the fact that IT'S A 6% DIFFRENCE!
And to everyone that s bitching about the price: Yes, it is a little overpriced. However, I can t speak for everyone, but I got it on day one, I beat it within a few days, and I have absolutely no regrets on buying it.

Anymore it's all about the xbox 360 vs the ps3 or the Halo franchise vs COD4 or KZ2. WHY?! It is so bothersome, ignorant and pointless. Buy one thing I've realized more than anything, IT IS FREAKING HILARIOUS! After reading so many boards and so many posts, I realize this will never end, and I don't think sites like g4 want it to stop. This is America Dammit and we love to argue and we're always right.
So as long as the sky is blue and the grass is green, and as long as the xbox outsells the ps3, fanboys all over will raise their voices loud.

Just going to ignore all the comments on here by people who love to fight over the internet. My opinion on most shooters these days like the Halo and Call Of Duty series is they're just generic. Halo has been way over rated from the start, did it really improve much on what DOOM and Wolfenstein did over a decade ago besides graphics? Sure online gaming has changed things, but it's so flooded with trash talking teens that I could care less for it. I guess some games just become wild success stories for no reason, because the story in Halo can't be the selling point or the gameplay in MY opinion. One the story in the entire series seems generic because the story really started in Halo 2, but even then in seemed shoe-horned in there. Why would I say the story started in Halo 2 some of you might think or want to strangle me for saying? Well can you honestly say there was much of a story in Halo 1? I can sum it up easily, your a super soldier, you crash on a ring world, fight enemies, save friends, surprise enemies, blow up ring. Halo 3 to me was the best game in the series, it seemed the most matured so far as it should have, BUT it still didn't deserve the praise so many give the series. Now my 360 Red Ringed on me a while ago so I haven't been able to play Halo Wars or ODST yet, but I expect much the same mediocre gameplay. Now if you have been able to read this far, well thanks for hearing out my opinion, I have to say I absolutely do not hate the Halo series, actually I find it quite fun. The issue with me as I've stated over and over is I really do not think Halo deserves so much praise and time in the spotlight it gets. I'm still hoping for a game that has an actual compelling story line instead of the same old cliche's done redone a billion times, great and new inventive gameplay and great features. That is the sort of game I believe deserves to be loved and praised by millions of people.

This fighbt has been raging for a while. I play both halo and cod, I both think their great games, sure I'd pick halo over cod, but that's just my OPINION

yes it's true xplay gave odst a 5outof5. That doesn't mean it's any better than mw2. You can't assume what another person thinks. Sure now I'll be flamed by all the fanboys finding some excuse to flame. People need to realize that you can't judge a book buy it's cover, or in this case, a video game by it's rating. People need to think before they post, do you really think saying "hay dood cod4 sucks halo is so much bettr geta good game n00b" is the best way to DEBATE.

Really people, really. The Halo effect may be real, but to some it's just a load of hooey. We are all individuals, each with our own thoughts, and THAT'S how you judge a game, by saying what YOU think, and no other way. Discussion forums are just battlefields, and those battlefields are truly effecting the industry, developers and journalists look at what we say, and if you want anything to come out of these, you just need to call it quits, and settle down. We are some of the biggest decision makers of this industry, and we just aren't representing well, not. at. all. Sure I probably just wrote my own version of a ssb, but I just needed to get my 2 cents in, or more like 2 dollars

Sessler u make a really good point (not tryna kiss ur ass) but i agree,if odst came first would it had been a great game? maybe,but having played odst i thought it was ok for the challenge online but i wasnt all on it like the other halo games, But like u said i was 1 of the ppl after beating halo 3 so many times i saw halo odst and wanted to play cuz i knew it was guna be great but that happen all the time like most sequels 2 a great hit we take off the slack for a bad movie cuz we liked the first or more succesful versions of the game or movie.

I hope after Reach that Bungie creates a good original IP. Don't get me wrong, I think the Halo games are fun, but It's starting to get old.
