Forza Motorsport 3 PAX Game Designer Interview »

Forza Motorsport 3 for the 360 is coming out on October 23rd. Along with over 100 more cars and a ton of new tracks, Microsoft's racer aims to extend the realism of the previous Forza 2, offering more realistic damage, roll-over damage, in-car view and tons of other improvements. The game's multiplayer architecture aims to compete with top-tier FPS out there.

Of course the customization has been beefed up too. "There's a huge amount of car customization," Bill Giese, Senior Game Designer, said."As players go through the game, and they're really good photographers or tuners, but who maybe aren't the best racers, can become known in the community as the best painters."

"The attention to detail has been ramped up. The interiors are going to be a big win for us because they look so beautiful. Seeing someone race an R-8 at 60 frames a second, in cockpit, is nuts," Giese said.

sniper, I too was surprised to find out that GT5 will be the FIRST iteration of the series to feature damage effects. My understanding is it will probably be just minor body damage visuals. NO rollover effects. I am not sure why people deep throat GT5 when this would be the FIRST TIME they even use model damage. Not to say that Forza 3 won't have any faults but come one the IP of GT took 5 games to even implement car damage. Ridiculous. It has only taken Turn 10 3 Forza's to CREATE roll over damage to vehicles. GT 5 may be a visual stunner but it takes a lot more than a pretty face to keep me interested and without all the customization options and VAST community that is easily linked it appears GT 5 is just a dumb down version of a racing sim.

Sure GT5 might be better than Forza 3 in graphics and amount of cars. I look for realistic features in games. DAMAGE IS a big deal in simulation games. Until ALL cars have full damage features it is NOT a simulation game.

imagine if thedevelopers actually played the game, and were able to choreograph all those stunts, in real time. that would be f-ing awesome. hopefully they made the car editing system a little simpler (navigating through sections and also the deleting layers and copying/paste, because when i firdt started out editing it was a pain, and i have a feeling dome other people were a little annoyed. and even though GT5 says they have more than double the cars in F3, we all know that F3will expand on their car collection via DLC. Also excited for roll overs, hopefully realistic (likely)

Forza 3 is easily one of the most anticipated games of the year. I can't wait for it to release.

    I really can't.

    @ GT/Sony fanboys

Really? Why are you dismissing Turn 10 for lighting a fire up under Polyphony Digital's rump? Forza 1 and Forza 2 were dynamite games and if GT were that invincible as a series, why would Polyphony Digital add things like damage modeling to the next release?

I'm looking forward to the day when GT5 FINALLY comes out, but there's no denying that Forza is a fantastic game and a viable alternative. If you tried and didn't like it, that's cool. However, you shouldn't throw your opinion around as unadulterated fact. Just game on and be cool.

    @ Dudeman

The video of the cars doing those stunts ARE realistic... but not as realistic as the prospect of you taking a remedial English class in school. Just saying...

Bring on the Forza! the first two have been incredible games. I'm sure GT5 will FINALLY bring some much needed damage modelling to the game but no one's better at customization than Turn 10 and the monster that is the Forza series. It's that reason why I feel Forza has bested GT since Forza Motorsport came on the scene.

Simply put: best racing sim ever.

    @ Dudeman & Skillz

    I gotta agree w/ the Monsta - It's called a DEMO VIDEO.

@ the rest of the haters & instigators

You don't like it? Don't play it. I'll be more than happy playing the best racing sim w/ the deepest customization EVER.

will GT5 have as deep a customization editor as Forza 3? If not then I will take Forza3 over GT every day of the week and twice on Sunday. I was never into racing games, especially not GT, but when Forza 2 came out with the customization editor I was hooked. I could spend days and weeks creating something unique and then submit it into the Turn10 website to see if I would win a Livery competition and get a custom car from Turn 10. The racing, especially the physics, in Forza are great but more than that are the tools they provide the player in order to create something unique. Not only that but they then give you the option to put it on the auction block for the highest bidder. IMO Turn 10 has the best concept for a racing sim: realistic racing and physics, deep customization options and an extremely vast community that is networked (turn10 website, Live).

until GT has full damage on ALL cars, and roll over damage, it doesn't matter how good it looks and how many cars it has. Typical sony mentality, thinking they are invinsible and not innovating when they should.
