Fallout 3 is such an awesome game, everyone I know who has played it has played it more than once: You start off Good, then you try the Evil route. But what about a third option? A blogger at Afrogamer has a unique play style: Genocide -- that is, killing every NPC in the entire game, whether it's Tenpenny, that half-tree dude or the slaves who just want to be free.
More than just an exercise in nihilism, the experiment also provides unique gameplay challenges: Dead men give no quests, so leveling is a challenge and combat is hard. Recent posts on the blog provide an entertaining and disturbing narrative of a Fallout 3 player who's gone completely off the rails into wholesale slaughter. It's obviously full of spoilers, but if you haver a few minutes and like a good read, head on over and check it out.

Dang it, how did he steal my idea? Honestly though, I'm happy to see that someone else has got the same twisted imagination as me. However, I didn't kill NPC's before I could take their quests. I would often take on a mission, complete it, and once they got done thanking me and turned around, bang. I don't know if there is truly a genocide option for the game though. Much to my chagrin, there are some NPC's that cannot be killed. Obviously children characters can neither be put to rest nor can they be enslaved. Also, there are some characters that are just not allowed to die because it would completely mess up the flow of the story. Still, good for him for taking on the challenge. We genocide maniacs need to stick together you know.

How 'bout an Indifference mode and shoot everything you see (good guys, bad guys, inanimate objects...)

I've found hand-to-hand only on very hard to be quite the challenge.

ha thats how i originally played evil! i would always think, 'well if i was truly evil, i would just kill them.' however sometimes i would do a quest knowing the reward i would get... THEN i would kill them.

I've play fallout 3 w/o VATS and on hard. its not that hard after you've reached level 8 and obtained the proper perks.

It would definitely be more fun then the 4th option: Fallout 3 Suicide.

"Dead men give mo quests"
Yes and as we all know 'mo quests = mo money" and this article contains mo spelling errors.
Hrolf
play it on hard and dont use vats. then see how much of a challenge you have

Too bad 1/4 of the NPCs can't be killed. I only did the main storyline and got to level 20, so I'm not sure why they'd be having problems; the combat is easy (VATS = Victory).
