Unsurprisingly, the latest Pokemon games are selling like crazy in Japan -- I'm talking seven-digits crazy. According to Media Create, Pokemon SoulSilver sold 722,904 copies, while HeartGold sold 720,086. That's a total of 1,442,990 in just two days! Apparently the economic downturn is no match for Ho-oh and Lugia.
These numbers should be interesting to people who make ignorant comments like, "They still make Pokemon games?" and, "People still care about Pokemon?" Guess what bunky? Yes, Pokemon games are still being made by the excellent people at GameFreak and millions of people care enough to buy them.
Anyone surprised by the sales figures? Do you still doubt that we live in a Pokemon world?

I'm not surprised by the numbers at all. I've actually pre ordered both of them for my little brother. Pokemon is one of the few things I still have from my childhood that I still love.

Surprised? nope, not at all. I can't wait to buy soul Silver. one thing i wonder is if you need to beat the elite 4 in order to trade with Diamond and Pearl or if you can do it right off the bat

not surprised of the pokemon sales and yes the world does live in a pokemon world. i do think that in a future pokemon will soon vanish since for some reason my little cousins ages from 7-10 don't like pokemon and watch mtv which ruins America and that is how the younger generations is rotting booo to nickolodeon who introduce them to reality like toons plus their parent who let them watch

I'm glad they still make pokeman games. Pokeman snap was fun, too bad these games won't come out in english. North america hasn't gotten a pokeman game since supersmash melee.

Woo a lot of people must like crappy games. Other than the kids who bought it, it is a really fun game when your young but not anymore.

No surprise at all and I can't wait to get my hands on SoulSilver. Silver was probably my all time favorite Pokemon back on the gameboy.
EPICAC
I think i say this on every Pokemon article I see on this site, but doesn't Pokemon just sound like the coolest MMORPG ever? I'm totally serious, from the GB RPG's from the last year they've made four regions, not to mention little places fromt the tv show like organge island. There is a huge variety. The show really empasizes tournaments, and different training styles. Also there are 450+ pokemon. So a huge variety to spread out over all the regions they've made. Also in the tv they do a lot of move combining, like using offense moves in a defensive fashion as well as regular combos that out manover the opponents, and using terrain to the advantage. Also you have all your villian groups, team rocket, galatic, magma and whatever saphires group was. Not to mention the possibilities of having PC rivals as opposed to NPC rivals, making that into a system. Also having training groups like you see in the show, and you can have breeding contests, or shows or whatever. Also the advanced possibility of being in the elite four, or having a gym of your own, which has myriads of possiblities. rangers could be incorperated, as well as possibly becoming a Pokemon professor, if catching 'em all is your thing. Anyway, the concept has ridiculous amounts of potential, and I think it's brilliant. I would like to hear your thoughts.

They just need to go ahead and make a pokemon MMO-RPg.
They have all the basic set ups.
Trainers equal characters-Set up different Types of trainers-Certain types get certain abilities and pokemon.
Citys would be Famous cities from the games.
Dungeons would be just like an instance from WoW.
Side missions could be directly transferred from The games as well.
Not gonna lie I totally have gone into deep thoughts about this. You hear that Nintendo? Holla At Ya Boy! AIGHT

wow! considering the population numbers in Japan is it really that much of a surprise it sells 1.4 million of anything in two days??
for whatever reason they love games where you catch things, usually fantasy type monster n junk. good for them? when i see numbers in relation to somewhere that has a bunch of people it's not really a surprise or news worthy imo.

silver was by far my favorite, yellow was up there also but there was something about silver that was just epic. I cant wait for it to release here, there have been a lot of good ds games lately. Scribblenauts, bowser's inside story and then these coming up. Makes me glad I have a ds.
XwingVmanX
I'd rather another remake of Blue, Red, and Yellow. No pokemon game will ever match them.
